Anyone have recommendations for Toronto or the Finger Lakes?
Inspired by the Niagara thread...
The wife and I are going to Toronto in September, then stopping at Keuka for a couple days on the way home. She has her sights picked out in the city, but is there anything we should check out so far as restaurants, etc? I go to upstate NY (and Quebec) fairly often, but those are fishing trips so I don't do much that interests her. By the way, I will be packing a rod. So if you have a secret hole to share near Toronto or in the Finger Lakes, shoot me a PM. I might be able to sneak off while she's at the Shoe Museum.

The Waterfront Restaurant about half way down Keuka Lake the west side on West Lake Road (54A), right down on the water, and the Switzerland Inn (the Switz) about half way down the east side off of Rt 54. Been awhile since I've been, but both good spots.

The Inn at Taughannock Falls is a hotel/restaurant on the west side of Cayuga lake . Address is 2030 Gorge Road , Trumansburg NY . It's been 30 years since I was last there but it's still open and has a view of the lake . We used to own a cottage about a mile from there .

Toronto? Use public transit. Good luck driving anywhere...

In Toronto we have an Air BnB right downtown with parking, most of what she wants to see and do we can walk to. Fortunately, we like to walk.

Are you going to the CN tower? If you like Beer there is Steam Whistle brewing almost directly below, they make a great Pilsner, good thing because that is the only beer they make.
Lots of excellent restaurant's around, what do you like? If you are serious about the shoe museum there is a good place for a slice of pizza at 654 Spadina. At least it was excellent years ago. After your slice head south to 126 McCaul Village Genius pub and try a La Trappe Quadrupel beer, 10% Abv but really good. If you like Jazz try the Rex on Queen just a little further south. Fishing near Toronto, the only place I can think of is the aquarium near the CN tower, but they are not going to like it.

Probably not the CN tower - she doesn't like elevators.
La Trappe Quadrupel sounds like a beer I will like. Regarding restaurants - no particular cuisine. I like Italian, mexican and steaks. She likes shellfish and just about anything. From limited research, it looks like a couple rivers in the city might have salmon running in September. There are ponds and bays on the islands that look likely for pike. I have higher hopes for fishing near Keuka.

Here's a random question - I don't really smoke, but apparently it's a thing to get real Cuban cigars in Toronto.
Is there any point for a non-cigar guy to seek out 6-12 of these? I mostly only smoke when I'm fishing and bugs are annoying - so typically 2-4 sticks a year. I'm assuming that if I bring Cubans, the other guys will be up for a smoke.

Lots of whineries.
The Corning Glass museum is pretty interesting. Watkins Glen, park and racetrack. Buttermilk Falls. Cooperstown is a little hike, but if you like baseball and Ommegang has some brews you may like. The Stone Beetle is hidden in the woods off a back road between Ithaca and Cortland. Anchor Bar in Buffalo. And that little waterfall. Enjoy. It’s pretty country. Since it will be September, you might try fishing for salmon, brown trout and rainbow trout off any pier on Lake Ontario near a decent size tributary. Don’t know about Toronto but on the US side, there are a few…or you might book a salmon fishing charter for a morning out of Toronto Buffalo or Rochester
Not sure how you would fish Keuka lake without a boat….and no salmon there but good for lake trout and SM bass if you can rent a boat….no idea if that’s an option but probably is

It's worth driving through Letchworth. And golfing at Byrnecliff if you're mobile.

I'm pretty sure you need a fishing license for Ontario....

The Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto and worth a visit.

Letchworth and Taughanock both look great, as does Bully hill.
I'm aware that I need fishing licenses - I already have my Ontario sporting card. I'm fly fishing, so pretty much just tribs. Some of the Finger Lake tribs are supposed to be good in the fall, I'm hoping to find trout around Toronto. I would love to find cohos or atlantics, I'm pretty much done with great lakes chinooks. The wife likes to sleep in, so that opens up my mornings.

we go to letchworth every september or october. very pretty. pack a lunch. plenty of picnic tables right at the cliff. the food at the Glen Iris Inn, while a beautiful place, is truly disgusting. and as i recall its cash only to enter the park…i think it was about $7 per car

NY is no problem - I fish there enough that I get the annual license. Mostly Ontario tribs for steelhead and browns, but also the Delaware. I've fished the Finger Lakes area once, but it was mid-summer.
