Help! Zumo XT confusion
 

I bought this used from ADV site. It works but it's driving me nuts. The owner's manual is not idiot proof and I cannot figure this thing out.

I had to download the Garmin Drive app to my iphone and get the two paired up which I did. But when I enter a destination / search the Zumo goes blank and the phone does nothing.

When I plug into a USB cable the Zumo just sits there showing the Garmin logo and is unresponsive.

So, must I run it alongside my iphone? Can't I run the Zumo by itself? help?
