Anyone using T-Mobile as an ISP?

Steve ?

Accessing via phone, I've been experiencing "classic DNS" slowdowns or total lockups for about the past week.... making Al's Internet unreachable .... I might not get this thread started .

Anyone else?

And it's definitely DNS.... not just "probably" like many outages .... btdt ... a BUNCH

I've had DNS not responding problems a lot lately on our Frontier connection.

DNS infrastructure is a complex, layered system that can reek havoc (everything is down), to causing serious slowdowns, etc.

Almost like solving complex intranet networking issues .....

Could be local .... might not be....

I'm glad I'm retired and my phone ain't ringing

I also supported corporate DNS servers too.... state-of-the-art schit .... truly

Stop using the T-mobile DNS...

Yes, I have T-mobile Internet.

I have pi-hole setup on my Synology NAS in a docker container, and I have various DNS servers from the list in the doc above.

The only DNS option I see is asking for a Private DNS host name if I turn off "Automatic"...

When I was a young T-Rex, I always specified DNS servers via their actual IP addresses ... I tried 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) .... phone won't accept that.

What host name should I enter?

Thanks!

How far the mighty have fallen...

"dns.google" should work. But, fargin' idiot Android developers. "give us an FQDN (that requires DNS to work) as a static DNS server entry." Really?

Give it a shot and see what happens.

I used to be (many years ago) a hardcore Android user. I had the "G1" and the "G2" and another HTC Android before I switched over, and they were great (and at the time, IMO, more advanced than Apple). I rooted them. At one job, I had IPSec VPN setup and could connect to work, and could then use a terminal app to get into network devices from my phone. They were extremely capable. I eventually went to the dark side (Apple).

On my apple today, I can add several static DNS servers by IP.

LOL .... even my rust has gotten rusty .... it's been 15 years now .

I was always doing stuff on my Intranet (my DNS servers by their addresses), and from home would just enter something like 8.8.8.8 as another option.

But never by name.... dns.google is now specified .... and yeah .... Android .

Time will tell if this makes a difference. This is something new... been happening for about a week now.... never needed to dig in before....and I lost my dang shovel too!

Thanks Steve!

I've fallen and I can't get up

ROFLMAO!

We'll pitch in to get you an "IT alert" necklace.

You're looking pretty spry for an old guy though.
