Sometimes that's the play. Usually, as you know the keeper will jump before the kick.

Rapinoe had a beauty of a chance for number 3 but...and poor Rose twice over the cross bar. Off to a good start although VN didn't look like they had much of a chance.

Recorded and watched first half. I did not catch the National Anthems. Grandson plays youth soccer and the man over the club is encouraging the players to watch World Cup. After the 2019 Women, it seemed like the girls teams were half of what they had been. I sure hope this team behaves better than the 2019 Women.

If these women don't like our country let them move to another and play there.

I believe any US citizen has the right to try and fix anything they see as wrong . But disrespecting the national anthem is just stupid . You are immediately turning off a large part of society that " might " agree with your cause .

If you want to fight for equality/equal pay/gay rights/environment or anything else that's important to you do it through proper channels . Get organized . Sign petitions . Have meetings with government officials .

And guess what . You don't always win or get everything you want . It's called life . As a US citizen I wish the team well but I will not watch . I would be a hypocrite if I did .

If you disrespect the national anthem or police or the military just as examples you have turned me off . That may or may not mean anything . But it means something to me .

I didn't see that, the game was already on when I tuned in.
I understand and support it when they protest this way in the US. But international audiences aren't going to understand what's going on and can't go anything about it anyway. It makes the players and the US look bad. US politics should end at the border.

Family is Portuguese. The Portuguese women finally earned a spot in the World Cup. Of course they’re first appearance puts them in the same group as us, so I have some split loyalties this year.

With a loss to Nederlands they’re not likely to advance so my split loyalty will be short lived.

That game will be On Tues. Aug. 1 but before that Portugal will play Vietnam on Thurs. July 27 - both games in the wee hours of the morning....

You guys know that I am not a real man because I do not watch sports but do like all things cycling of course, and international sports including marathons. The very reason I refuse to watch their game is when they pull that stupid stunt and the women's team started *****ing about pay compared to men's world soccer. I am done with all the woke siht. Australia is 14 hours ahead of us, in general.

Here on the East coast (Eastern Time) pre-game coverage starts at 7pm and the game starts at 9pm.

You can adjust from there depending on your time zone.

It’s more of an issue wrapping my head around the fact that this morning’s telecast is a night game there while tonight’s telecast is a morning game there.
