Does anyone even read Amazon reviews?

I bought a toilet paper stand for in the office trailer… it took weeks to arrive due to an error on part of the courier. Anyway, my son assembled it and it’s all loaded with toilet paper.

Here was my amazon review… I hope someone reads it.

Revolutionized Pooping

The way that this toilet paper holder stands there, right next to the toilet, completely unfaltered by the indescribable horrors that happen mere inches away is remarkable. The way that it holds the toilet paper, perched on the beautifully crafted hanger arm, unaware of the indescribable events each square of toilet paper will soon endure is extraordinary. This simple but marvellous little toilet paper stand has transformed the way we poop.

If you buy a lot of stuff from Amazon and review the products, they will offer you an Amazon Vine membership. With that, you get lots of items from Amazon to review, and you get to keep them. Most of the time is is a fun thing to do. People do read the reviews as it helps them choose a product.

I read the reviews on almost everything I buy on Amazon.
Sometimes it leads to changing my mind...which I am thankful for.

I read the reviews on just about everything I buy, unless it’s dead drop simple.

What’s funny is, I posted reviews and some have been rejected. I didn’t say anything terrible. They don’t give a real reason.

"Dear Amazon,
I installed my new wrought iron toilet paper rack in the bathroom a while back and I've decided I've never been more excited about a piece of furniture in my whole life. This is life changing. Not only does it hold a single roll immediately at my hand, but it will also hold 4 extra rolls for those "heavier" days when one roll just isn't enough. But, the best part is, this work of art is so stupendous, so fantastic, that my friends now refer to me as "Mr Toilet Paper" and ask me questions about the holder, even when I'm away from home. To be sure, I wasn't sure I wanted my toilet paper holder to be the first thing I see when I walk in to use the bathroom, but, after living with this luxury item for a few months, it has become like a part of the family and I can't imagine a life without it. The only way I would get rid of it would be if they made one bigger and more extravagant"

There is one thing wrong with the tp holder pictured.

A person might leave the last piece of tp too close to the toilet and the next user flushes.
The whole roll of tp is gone....too costly.

Yes.

And, for your reading pleasure, here is one of the better reviewed products on Amazon.

The three wolfs howling at the moon shirt- read the reviews. Do it.

I just read the one star reviews so I can avoid buyer’s remorse

I used to, but recently a friend was given an expensive item (~$500) on the condition they submit a five-star review.

Now I only trust negative reviews.

Now I wonder if the OP even paid for the toilet paper holder....

Last week I saw a car for sale online that said 'decent body, transmission has hole in it the size of my uncle's prostate'. I did not buy it.

I check the reviews, but I tend to start with the 3 and 2 star reviews first. One crazy thing about Amazon reviews is that often bad reviews have nothing to do with the actual product. People give low rankings for shipping delays that have nothing to do with the seller, mistakes they made about the product, or lately because they disagree with the politics of the seller. If the bad reviews are nonsense, the product is usually good.

Based on your review Billy, I would buy 2 or three!! :D:D

I check the lower star reviews first. But yes, I read them.

The issue with Amazon reviews is that 42% are fake.

Right. They bought something for a purpose that the item wasn't meant or isn't suited for. They bought something and when it arrived it was larger or smaller than they thought (despite the item description including the size). Or they bought something and clearly have no idea how it's supposed to work and/or didn't read the instructions. Lots of morons out there.

I read reviews. It's a crap shoot. You have to read a large selection of reviews and then interpret what's really going on.

Most helpful 5 star reviews:

"I was skeptical at first, but the bluetooth feature is a real plus, the holder automatically preordering replacement TP from Amazon. Delivered right to my back door- faster than I can chop a log. Amazing! Couldn't be happier. Beware imitators! Insist on the best. "

"A real game changer."

"The eco-friendly mode tells me when I am using a responsible amount of TP. We all need to do our part to save planet Earth. It even post my latest stats to STRAVA."

"I used to spend hours trying to get that perfect selfie in the bathroom mirror. NOT ANYMORE! The built in camera randomly auto-updates my FB profile pics. I LOVE IT!!!!"

Yeah, well I'm thinking of getting 2 or 3 of them so that tells you something about me.

Yep. You have to look at the reviews through a good BS filter, but they can be helpful.

Did AI write that?

I think I used one of these at my son's house.
Problem I had was the roll comes off the holder too easily and you end up with it unrolling on the floor. Not a pretty sight having to re-roll the paper back onto the roll.
