The Incredibles & They Live

The AMC I go to brings back old movies and this weekend they were showing The Incredibles and it's the 35th anniversary of John Carpenter's They Live. God how time flies, I was 20 when I saw it and it's been in my Top 50 ever since.

The Incredibles holds a special place in my heart since while I loved it, my best friend who passed away last year did as well and quoted it frequently, especially Edna Mode. It was an incredible (no pun intended) treat to see it in his honor. Such a great movie. Here's to you Chris.

The 80s seems so simple and perfect to me at the time but John Carpenter was prescience defined, it's essentially a documentary.

They Live made me a fan of the wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper. Very good movie! I like the bubblegum scene, parts of which were in your first clip.

Yes yes yes. And that fistfight at the end.

I thought I was the last man alive that remembers that movie.

I suspect John Carpenter wanted Roddy Piper for that fight scene. There's little bits of humor in this movie, which really make it more entertaining. John Carpenter made quite a few entertaining movies, my favorites are probably The Thing and Starman, which was a remake much better than the original, IMO. Good sci-fi horror concept. John Carpenter was married to Adrienne Barbeau from 1979-1984.

the local independent theatre got hit hard by covid. after a few months they just became a revival house. we saw raiders of the lost ark, willy wonka, wizard of oz, the searchers, and a host of other movies. we probably went more that year than when they were showing modern hollywood crap.

mostly back to normal now. think they're showing the devils reject for halloween.

Both are excellent movies. I've seen the Incredibles a few times (I've got grandsons).

I love "They Live". It's a classic, 80s, "B" Sci-Fi flick!

I love the Incredibles so much my cheques have the characters printed on them (Harland Clarke via Costco) and I bought my wife an Edna Mode bag which she still uses...

Just finished a short camping trip with my grandsons, 5 and 3. They were up early one morning. I've got a few DVD's in the trailer. I put on the Incredibles. The younger one wasn't happy. He didn't understand this wasn't netflix or something. About 10 minutes in he said, I think my favorite character is the Big Guy
