Viking?

First time taking a Viking river cruise next month. Amsterdam - Basel on the Rhine. Any tips? Must see things? Advice between the included excursions and extra$ ones.
TIA

I remember a thread about this a while back (few years?). One of the guys had been on one. I think he talked about renting bicycles and cycling between some of the close towns or something like that. It was an interesting thread.

Check and see what the river level is like and what they anticipate it being the month you are going. The Rhein river level can really fluctuate to the point where they can’t get a boat through when there is a low river level. And they’ve been in a drought this year. As the Rhein flows north, it will be at its highest level where you are starting out. You need to be concerned with the level is upstream.

Don't know if it is a planned stop, but the Cologne Cathedral is definitely worth an excursion if available.

A friend did the Viking Rhine river cruise and loved it.

It's on my do list.

I hope you have a great time. I can't wait to see how you like it.

Husband and I will be doing a Viking Danube Cruise with 3-day extension in Prague for our 25th next spring.

Yep, there weren't many around it left standing by the end of WW2
