Left vs. right debate aside, playing AC/DC is deceptively tricky. I think it's mostly due to Phil Rudd's drum parts. I can't count how many times I've seen bands play this stuff note for note and still sound nothing like AC/DC, well, because of Phil Rudd. As for the guitar work, the genius is in the tone and the yin/yang of Angus and Malcolm not stepping on each other's toes. Angus didn't use pedals. It was an old SG plugged into a NMV Marshall and cranked to the gills. His tone changed when he started using a wireless unit for recording because he felt it gave him a boost. That has recently been reverse engineered into a pedal called the Solodallas Storm, which I just got. But old NMV Marshalls have to be run very loud to get the goods. Nailing such a simple tone is surprisingly complex.

The instructor was ok but I sensed challenged with her showing up with a lefty guitar. The kids lesson books are all right handed… we are doing this together so we will work our way through it.

It was sorta funny that the instructor said, well if she starts with a lefty guitar, it will be harder for her to upgrade as she progresses… then she saw her guitar and said, I think she will be fine for quite a while.

We are going to stick with the lefty and see how it goes. This is my daughter’s decision.

We've had that conversation, which is outside the topic of this thread. But....power soak. With that much power, they get hot. But they also turn that wide open Marshall into a preamp.

And yeah, sometimes the 'invisible' rhythm section of a band is doing more to shape the song, or band, than the upfront instruments/voices. Still, AC/DC music will be fun for her to work on. When I started, it was Black Sabbath.

Lessons are great at the beginning to train hand movements and get the basic chords down. After a while (maybe a year or so) you may want to branch out and save yourself some money. Youtube, Ultimate guitar and Songsterr are invaluable sites for learning guitar. However, most of these sites cater towards a right handed player. FWIW, Eric Clapton didn't read music.

If she attacks that guitar like she does the ski slopes, your ears will be ringing for the next decade. ;)

Best
