No display fitness trackers
Anyone have one of the fitness rings? I like tracking my steps and other basic things with my smart watch. But sometimes I like to wear one of my older analog mechanical watches, so I need something else to track my steps.
I see a few "rings", specifically the Oura. I'm not sure I want to spend $450 for a fitness ring. None of the cheap ones on Amazon have better than a 2.5 rating. |
Does your phone not tell you? I thought they could track that stuff.

My cellphone can track steps, but only if it is kept in my pocket all the time. But it won't track anything else.

Android/Google or Apple? (the two choices)
Apple has a heartbeat monitor built into the thumb screen/movement potentiometer/GPS/Bluetooth to connect and pair with any nearby devices and upload data. It should still do all that. The other should do the same. |
Samsung. Again, I'm looking for a device to pair that is not a watch. Or nearly $500.
|
Samsung is not a phone OS but they make very good products.
You should only need a $20 one-time app for your phone. Or another inspiration for fitness. Pesky dog. Or human. Friends walking group. A college rec center with pool. |
Honestly, Samsung's version of Android is modified enough to almost qualify as its own OS. But I digress.
Again, I already track all of this using built in apps. I am looking for an external device with the sensors to continuously measure things like my Smartwatch, but for when I'm not wearing a smartwatch. The "gold plated" version is the Oura Ring https://ouraring.com/ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1695669435.jpg But the cost is insane. By the time you buy the charger (not included), it is $350-$450 depending on the finish. |
I also wanted a band that had no display. Amazon Halo came and I snapped one up. Sadly, they discontinued the product and the service. So I'm back to a FitBit Inspire 3, it has a small screen, and you can turn off the auto-wake feature when you lift your arm/twist your wrist. And yeah I'm not sure the device + subscription is worth it for the ring type trackers.
