Old sci-fi monster flicks

When I was a kid, I loved flicks like this...found this one from 1957 on youtube. Follows the formula..handsome hero, good looking woman, a world that needs saving. Some good shots of the military aircraft of the time. Make some popcorn, get ready to laugh..

It's our go to for fun entertainment. Lots on UT/ Freebe channels. For added fun: MST3K for running commentary. My wife and I have seen so much of those, we do our own running commentary on the cheap props, ridiculous dialog and what back-lot trash bin the 'monster' costume came from.

AI (American International) pictures churned a bunch of those out at that time, spaghetti sci-fi's / monster moves. There is also a sub-genre of teenage/ hot-rod / motorcycle gang monster flicks. All of which we give 5 stars...

I just looked for Them (1954) on YouTube. You have to pay to rent it. That thing has held it's own!

MST3K for running commentary - I'll check it out.

Tarantula has a smoking babe, good special effects and Clint Eastwood, an oxygen masked fighter pilot commander (uncredited) taking them out at the end. You have to pay for that movie too. Why is it all the good ones?

I didn't make popcorn, but I did just finish watching this gem with my four-year-old grandson and 90 year old mother. Gotta love movies that were made for fifties kids.

One cool thing I noticed is that the B-25 footage they used was of the Ruptured Duck, a bomber used in the famous Doolittle Raid, where the U.S. made a bombing run on the Japanese homeland early in WWII.

Norm...some real history right there...thanks.

Another favorite was creature from the black lagoon. Even at 12 years old, I found this scene interesting...

George Peppard ( A-Team ) was the guy in the monster suit. Also, played other monsters that were full on coverage, so he could have a side gig, no one knew.......

Since you took my advice on Tekton tools, you know I'd never steer you wrong, right?

When the time presents itself, tune in to these movies...classics guaranteed to amuse.

These were done in a similar style to the old ones and is actually fairly well done. This same guy actually made a bunch of movies in a similar style to the old 50s-60s sci-fi flicks.
