Any neurologists here?
Has to call 911 this morning. Cindy..bad MS spell crazy stuff. Walking to the john, sudden happening, said "I just wilted". Fire truck arrived before the ambulance...
I ran outside..."What I need are two strong young guys able to pick up an old lady and place her on a toilet." Bless them, they obliged. Luckily, no joint or bone damage from the fall. Still has partial use of her lower extremities, just no strength...muscles refusing orders. Will be moved from Corvallis hospital to a neurology center near Eugene. I'm home, midnight approaching, doing laundry & gathering things Cindy wants. Other than those two great strong guys, a couple of Angels helping me. Our daughter, 33 years an RN, helping me negotiate the hospital stuff, and her best friend from grade school...a state parole officer. Between those two & Cindy, I'm not having to really do much. My daughter sleeping now. She had a long flight to get here, was able to join her friend & I at the Corvallis hospital. I'm so glad they were both there...I was a worn to a frazzle emotional idiot. Still don't really have it together.. Similar happening happened about 10 years ago, only worse...Cindy's is the relapsing/remitting form of MS. Then means we've been one hell of a lot luckier than other MS couples. 10 years ago, steroids were the treatment, and although she was paralyzed, was able to walk again. Maybe we'll get lucky again...the last experience taught us to reach out for help sooner. I guess I'm just venting and praying here...and praying for the best outcome. The old saying is true: Life is what happens when you're making other plans. |
All I can say is good luck Paul. Prayers and fingers crossed for a good outcome.
|
You have had long day, pal. You get some rest also. I wish you the best of luck.
|
Paul: I can't add anything other than you and Cindy are being added to the prayer list. I hope her hospital stay is short.
|
Wow ... glad I saw this before I logged off.
Best to you and Cindy.... don't know what else to say.... thinking of you both... |
All I can do is pray for you and your family Paul. Hoping for the best outcome. Take care Champ.

I don’t have any expertise or references in this area, I wish I did. But I am thinking good thoughts and sending your way. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys...Daughter showing now. Soon, back to the hospital. Boy, it sure nice having somebody here who can read & understand test results. They also thought maybe stroke...nope, it's MS. Whether that's good news or not, I dunno....
|
Sorry to hear that Paul, degenerative diseases are terrible for the patient and the caregivers.
Unfortunately good news is rare in those situations, just grades of suck |
Wow Paul. Understandable your a little frazzeled. Glad your daughter was able to get there quickly. Sending Good thoughts and prayers your way.
|
Hoping for the best for you & Cindy. You're right about life happening at unintended times.
|
Sending any good karma I have your Way! Hope for a quick recovery with your Cindy.
|
Sending out hope and prayers.
My older sister is in her late 60s, if not 70 and has MS. With that and wet macular degeneration, she’s in a tough spot and not getting better. |
