Gulp :(

I thought for sure I had it :D!

yea, I guess I should have thrown some ICON badges on it, would have gotten another $200k then! My reserve was less than the one that sold for $220k last year and mine is in way better condition, with more options on it. Guess there were no high rollers on line today.

What is the point of that thing?
Seems utterly useless

I'm sure Prius owners say that about Porsches.
Or, if you have to ask...

At least you had a couple of bidders going hot and heavy for a minute. It was fun to watch the auction, and you sure did present it well and I thought you gave great feedback. Sorry it didn't make reserve.

Timing is everything so it seems. Nice Rig!

Tobra 10-17-2023 05:37 PM

I bought some CDs at 4% instead

still unsure if it was the right call

Thom has a kinda ratty one he drives to Starbucks sometimes, and a very fine XKE coupe. I could lord it over his ass no matter what he brought with that thing, and the dogs like trucks.

My wife would be very unhappy if I bought a brown vehicle, especially if it cost double what our place on the lake in Texas cost.

I guess I could just not tell her how much it cost, but someone would eventually spill the beans. If I got the Unimog in the divorce maybe...she takes the real estate, I take the cars. Put a camper shell on that baby and I would be all set.

I think yours is way better.

However, big money gets you an oily engine, crappy welds and rusty doors.

Totally shocked how it went.

That blows dead bears.

slow&rusty 10-18-2023 03:22 AM

Bummer.

So now what? Work out a deal with the high bidder or keep it and re-list it later?

I will just keep it for a bit. If you had to pay someone to build one, it would cost more than $250k. When the timing is better I will list it again, but I am not going to give it away.

Kinda of agree with you.

Considering that 83% of US population live in urban areas.

Maybe an african buyer should have bought it..... I guess they can't afford it.

Well it gets better fuel mileage than my Jeep grand cherokee, can pull 22 tons, has a dump box that can hold 4 tons. There are about 3000 attachments made to mate up to the Unimogs. From plows, snow blowers, man lifts, cranes, ect. Basically its a tractor that can go 80 MPH. No its not for the urban dwellers, who like being packed into a city. But for the 17% of us who like to live outside of the urban areas. There is a need for rigs like this. We have no subways or EV's don't work for us. We are responsible for our self, and are "doers" vs waiting for some city employee to show up, because they are never coming to 17% of us. Hard to get a elk or moose in the back of even a pickup truck, while it is possible with one of these!

Something like that has to have the "right buyer" looking at the time....

Good luck when that time comes!

If only in the budget, that would be a great track support vehicle for me.

vonsmog 04-12-2024 03:13 PM

Well I finally sold my Unimog for my asking price of $195k. Going to FL with the new owner!

Congrats, Von....what a beautiful example! Bittersweet for you, I'm sure......

Eric Hahl 04-12-2024 03:23 PM

Nice! Congrats!

Scott Douglas 04-12-2024 03:27 PM

That new owner got it backwards, he should have put the pickup on the trailer and pulled it home with the Unimog.

Congrats on the sale!
