Congrats Von.
Glad you got your ask, its worth waiting for the right person to come along especially for a vehicle as lovely and unique as this. The Unimog makes me want to buy a few hundred acres in the middle of no-where so I can go play!

I assume you struck a deal with the high bidder? I had a car on BAT that didn't make reserve but they put me in touch with the high bidder. Unfortunately we couldn't make a deal but I'm curious, how does BAT get their 5% from the buyer when a deal is made privately? Honor system? No commission and they only get your $99.?

Bidders have to submit a CC. Upon winning the bid, the money is taken from the account.

After reserve is not met and contact info is exchanged BAT couldn't know if an off line cash sale is made or not. Unless the seller ratted the buyer out?
BAT never contacted me to see if a sale was made after I negotiated with my high bidder |

I assumed the deal was made by a winning bid. If the car didn't sell at auction, BAT doesn't deserve a commision. They should not have let the reserve be too high. I think they have corrected that.

I suppose you're right. They're tight on reserve price to get that commission all right. I wanted a 45k reserve on a car I knew was deserving and they wouldn't go above 30k. The car sold for 65k and I jokingly emailed my BAT agent "good news Jake, it made reserve!" ...Crickets

Congrats! I could actually use a machine like that. A pricy work horse toy for me however.
You certainly got your 99 bucks worth out of BAT if that led to the sale Last edited by gregpark; 04-13-2024 at 10:57 AM.. |

Their bidding and reserve policies are very fair and ethical, IMO. They actually err in letting people set too high of reserve a lot, resulting in a bunch of cheap marketing for sellers and no fee for them, like in this case. I have my minor issues with BaT but in general, it’s the best platform for vehicle sales that has ever existed. Glad to hear about the sale of the Unimog, that’s a large parking space cleared up! |

Still looking for a house to buy, the extra $195k will make moving out west much easier!
