It's a Porsche. My guess is there's probably not a good reason to talk you out of it.

I'm guessing the "SFTU" part would be under, way under, your breath. You might think it (then she'd give you the knowing side-eye and you'd stop thinking it) and that would be about it.

I assume (no real idea) that the motors are probably related to the motors from the Cayenne. I think the Cayennes are pretty bulletproof. It's probably not much different than owning a Mercedes or other Porsche.

Don't they make a wagon version? Get that, they are cool!
The Turbo S is crazy fast. |

Wife has a base Panamera. It's a 4 door sportscar. It's awesome!
Good points: 31 mpg and 26 gallon fuel tank so it goes forever. Handles incredible. Great acceleration even on the base 2WD model (also the lightest). Bad points: Not as much room in the back seats as a Cayenne. With the back seats folded flat I can't put the driver seat back as far as I need to. No spare tire. Have to remove the front bumper to change the air filter! They really don't want you to work on it. I couldn't even find how much oil it takes in the manual ![]()

Something smaller and sportier may suit her. A panamera is quite big.

I like the newer ones with the more sloped roofline.

I have a dear friend, huge Porsche and race fan, our first date (didn't work out romantically) we raced to a restaurant 20 miles away after meeting, her in her Boxster and me in my 73 with a 3.2. So that kind of woman.
She LOVES LOVES LOVES her Panamera and is on her 3rd one I think after trading her 991 for her current one. Said the Panamera was a 991 that will hold her two Great Danes or friends or anything. Why does Mrs. Vinman want one? The newer ones are pretty and I would love a wagon myself. Older ones are not so easy on the eyes but who cares when you are inside it.

When they were new Tommy Kendall drove the piss out of one at Willow Springs and turned some impressive lap times. He wasn't hating the handling either. But that was a long time and a few models ago. Personally I don't see the point of a Panamera. A bigger 928.

When they first came out I hated them.... Same can be said for when the Cayennes came out.... Now my wife and I both drive and love our Cayennes. Lol At some point mine with 230k on the clock will need to be replaced at which point I typically then start daily driving my wife's vehicle and buy her a newer lower mileage German vehicle.
With that said, if I decide to do a car vs an SUV, I could easily see myself buying a used Panamera now. Even though I have had and loved used BMW 3 series straight 6 cyl cars in the past as our family nice cars, I don't ever see myself buying a used one now as the engines have shrunk and are stressed turbos now. PS....it is almost dinner time.... I better go tell my wife to go make me a sammich. ![]()

I really miss the gauges in my old 911. All of the gauges oil press, oil temp, and oil level all worked as expected and were accurate. The fact that my boxster doesn't have a dipstick or oil pressure gauge is bad. The method to check the oil sucks. Stop to get gas and wait for 5 mins for the computer to check the oil level. I have discovered that if i park the car when I get back from somewhere and go back out to the car after a while, it'll give me a reading after 6 secs which is the best option that I've found.

I believe the point is to snag some of the Audi, BMW, and Mercedes customers/money.
