Has anyone had their DNA traced?
I did. I never believed the BS my Granny fed me. She had married a fresh of the boat Greek florist. She was a batschit crazy red head Paddy. She had my Dad "at home". Dad was a blue eyed brunette.
He went thru most of his life with a Greek Orthodox baptismal certificate. He tried to get a passport. His US Navy discharge papers were no bueno as well any other ID he had. He finally had his 86 year Aunt swear out an affidavit to his birth since Granny had passed as well a her husband. The DNA test came back 75% United Kingdom, 25% Czech. 66 years of my life with a weird ass Greek name.... |
I did. Mostly Mediterranean but way more Neanderthal than expected. :D
|
Turns out I'm just an old Northern European mutt.

No, there's a chance of arrest for some crime I don't remember 60 years later.

Mine came back 95% Neanderthal, and 5% troglodyte. Hey, as a combination it works.

Word. I have not ran mine, but my cousin ( our mothers are sisters ) had his done. Full disclosure, this is my WAG. :p His came back predominantly Scotch-Irish. The other majority was of English decent. Leave about 5-8% for wild card traces. I’m guessing majority Scotch-Irish and the other 1/3-ish is from the Wales-area. My dad’s family knew their line going back to the early 1700’s. Oh, and I’m 0.75% African, fo sho :D |
What DNA company did you guys use and are you happy with how it was done. You feel it was correct?
I'm thinking of getting it done. Which company did you use Leroy, I mean Don? |
I had my DNA tested about 2 years ago.

Dumbest thing you can do is give up your DNA especially to companies like 23 and me.
Why has China has been collecting Americans DNA? |

Ancestry.com tells me what I already know. Probably better for Caucasians as they have more data and can therefore trace them a bit more precisely.

A DNA story for you. Quite heart warming.
A work buddy Mary-Lynn, her mother had just died and she felt very alone in the world. No one even slightly close in her life. She said "The doorbell rang and she saw a very beautiful coloured woman with a big grin on her face." The woman was her child. Mary-Lynn had a brief fling with a Black American military guy while his ship was in port, and got knocked up. When she had the baby her mother told her it was still born, but had it adopted out. Mary-Lynn said she went from having no one to having a beautiful daughter and lovely grandchildren. She also said if her mother hadn't just died she would have killed her herself. |
