Best of luck! So that's where they take it out? Holy crap, my docs say leave mine alone, not chemo, not rad, no surgery. Say I'll die of old age first.

Well done! It looks like the surgeon did a great job. My brother in law had it removed about seven years ago and overdid things. He got internal bleeding and had to have it repaired. He is still alive. His brother passed away as the cancer spread outside the prostate and was caught too late. Looks like keyhole surgery!

It was done with The da Vinci system robot the long cut was just to pull everything out. This runs in my family, my Dad had it done 25 years ago and is 92, here is him just passing his BFR

My dad’s prostate cancer spread to his internal organs and took him out. Alzheimer’s was moving well along as well, so it kind of worked out well, considering. I miss him more than anyone on earth.

All the best for a good recovery Craig.

Good job...it's amazing how much they can do today without huge cuts.
A HS buddy of mine just had it done this summer and his recovery was real quick. Your Dad looks to be in great shape for 92!

With all your machining skills, you didn’t just do the surgery yourself?!
Glad it all worked out and I hope you stay healthy for a long time.

Good luck in your recovery, Craig. Hope you keep us posted with any new updates.
(I just had a biopsy, a little cancer, but doc said leave it, it's so minor as to not be worrisome.)

Will do, they have been watching me for about 7 years. Biopsy’s, MRI’s etc most my biopsy’s have been half the cores 5 to 10% cancer this last one only one core had cancer but it was 50% I could have still watched it but with my family history I opted to just get it removed now. Wow, best of luck as you continue to recover. A friend has the same done several weeks ago.

Its been 3 weeks and back to work without lifting, feel great no pain, bladder control is not a problem. The lab came back with not the greatest news, some cancer cells at the margin, helpfully they got it all, will know at my first PSA test

There is an old saying , more men die WITH prostate cancer then FROM prostate cancer . Having said that when I was diagnosed in early 2015 I wanted to eradicate if possible . I ended up going the route of seed implants and follow up concentrated radiation . Seven years down and twice a year PSA testing show nothing . I am thankful . If/when you get the diagnosis you owe it to yourself and loved ones to get educated , consult with several doctors and make the decision that is right for you . To the OP good luck with your recovery .

Craig, my Dad had positive margins and they started him on radiation right away. I know there’s all sorts of factors that go into that decision, but I’d probe your MD until you have your own solid understanding of the reasoning they used to arrive at whatever they eventually recommend.
FYI my Dad made it another 25 years.
