No idea if it's real or not but I would use reverb.com much like ebay and filter on "Sold Listings". Authenticity not considered, the price appears to be in line with one that sold a couple months ago.

Its real, most likely, and price in line with what used ones go for. Kind of the low end of their line, but its still a Martin...

Steve Carlton 10-27-2023 03:33 PM

If you can play, you should go out and try different guitars and see what you like.

Por_sha911 10-27-2023 04:52 PM

IMO, there can be noticeable differences between two brand new quality brand "identical" acoustic guitars (same brand, same model, same year). Different tone and 'feel'. I wouldn't buy a quality guitar until I had sat down to play it for just a little bit.

Interesting. I asked a local guitar shop if they were interested in selling a 1946 Martin 0-21 12 fret guitar for me. They told me it was too rich for their blood. No idea what to do with it as it was my dad's and my musical talent is limited to drums.

Steve Carlton 10-27-2023 09:32 PM

^ I would call Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA, and see what they say. They're very well known and can handle any kind of high-end guitar on consignment, especially Martins.

Thanks, Steve! Wow, only 30 made in 1946.

Steve Carlton 11-02-2023 12:42 PM

afterburn- did you get the Martin? What's your objective?

WPOZZZ - any news on the 1946 0-21?

WPOZZZ 11-02-2023 02:19 PM

No news. Been doing other more pressing things.

afterburn 549 11-02-2023 05:38 PM

I just like fine things if I can afford them. I have bought and sold a few guitars and a martin is always a mystery to me as there are such variances.
That is why i asked the brain trust here.
it was no roaring deal, maybe not even a deal as i have no clue how to play.
So I passed.
Thanx to all who steered me in the right direction.
For sure I do appreciate it.

With Martin’s you really need to know what you want to do with it. Since you’re admittedly not a player, that’s gonna be tough.

Check this out for an explanation of martins sizing

Sorry can’t embed with this iPad

I have some Martins. I think you said you were a bit north of me or am I confusing you with someone else? I’m in Rochester. We have some shops here. If your in town, ide be happy to test some out with you or give you some tips. I’ve been at it 38 years. Just let me know

Ramonesfreak,
Hay !
And thanx!
I might take you up on that invitation!
We have all heard of the Martin that was found out in a field and turned out to be worth a fortune!

I do like well-assembled things and the craftsmanship involved.
Porsche, some measuring instruments, Whirley Bird stuff, combustion chambers.
My drugs are different than most, LOL
Yes, I am north of you
We should at least have lunch together.
Thanx !

Don't you have a bus? You could put the guitar in there. Neil Young famously lent Bob Dylan his tour bus when Dylan didn't have one and left the Martin D-28 that supposedly belonged to Hank Williams in there for him to use for a while.

Steve Carlton 11-03-2023 01:21 PM

How about guitar lessons?...

afterburn 549 11-03-2023 01:23 PM

Yea .. if Frankenstein can tap dance ! LOL

Steve Carlton 11-03-2023 02:10 PM

You're in luck!
