intermittent fasting.

first off, I don't know jacksquat about intermittent fasting.

however, I do know this. if your wife is participating in intermittent fasting, YOU are also participating. haha.

her and her nurse coworkers/friends are doing it. FAACK.

last Saturday was my first day. and you know why? my wife was hungry, and had about 4 hours until she could eat. I went into a well known and famous French bakery and bought one of those delicious French baguette sandos..you know the one. brie cheese, tender prosciutto, tomatoes, and lettuce. she gets back into my truck and I was in half bite. CRUNCH! i'm becoming my dad, because I make noise when I eat. mostly MMMM sounds. then slurped my latte.

the look on her face. hahha.. I wish I had my GoPro filming. she stayed the course and had a sensible chicken arugula salad later.

but i'm shocked how I am getting used to the hunger pangs. sip some tea, work. time flys. I cant wait until her and her nurse buddies stop this S tho. wife turns Vegan and i'm out.

true story. I had to get my annual blood test today.

tech asks, "how are you doing today?"
"doing well! you?"
"great! you ready for your blood test?"
"yes, I've been studying for about 3 days"
"what? you intermittent fasting?"

curious what my numbers look like. but you can get a bunch of beer down in relatively short duration.

Been doing it since Feb. On week days no breakfast or lunch. only eat supper, and a snack. Dropped from 200lb to 170. I also cut out sugar except for whats in my BEER . My mountain biking climbing is much stronger and much better in the technical rocky sections. I am 60 years old, and never felt better.

Also I am sharper during the day... if I eat an apple or something around 2:00pm I feel sleepy.. If I don't eat till supper I feel great all day.

My wife & I have been doing it for about a year now. I had an A1c of 6.5 so was prediabetic. I also gained some visceral fat in the belly region. Kind of krept up on me, since I've never had something like that before. I'm hoping this intermittent fasting thing will eventually get rid of it. I'm not as bad as lots of other guys in general, but it bugs me. The fasting regimen doesn't seem to have helped with that sofar, but my A1c is down to 6.1 last time I tested. I'd like to see if I can get it down into the high 5's if I can. It's been that and cutting out my excess of sugar and sweets, along with moderating my carb & salt intake.
You get used to the change in eating schedule. I get really hungry around 9 to ten o'clock but after that, I loose my hunger. You find you reduce buying certain foods associated with breakfast eating like eggs, bread, butter, jams, bacon (sigh), oatmeal and so on. I don't think I plan on giving it up anytime soon, & my wife likes it. We do have pancakes, eggs, etc. once in a while on Sunday mornings and occassionally go out for breakfast, but that's once a month or so.

You need to be more sensitive to the wife. What I mean is don't eat that in front of her if she is fasting.

Jeeze if I did that I'd end up eating a knuckle sandwich.

She did the fasting thing and quite a few Kg's fell off her.

I started off with a 6 day total fast, just lemon water, dropped 15.5lbs. Been doing intermittent fasting (mainly dinner only) since and along with working out am down almost 40lbs. Eating a lot more green and clean, cut out sweets (for the most part) and drink way less beer and wine, never felt better. During the 6 day fast I had a lot of energy and clarity and would totally do that again. BP was at 157/103 and now in normal ranges.

Dr Jason Fung. I believe he's an endicrinologist. He has clinics where his primary focus is the treatment of diabetes and obesity. It seems like his main tool is fasting and intermittent fasting. He used to have a ton of free data on his website. I think some of it is still around, but I think most of it is in a book now.

I've done fasting and intermittent fasting, and it enabled me to lose weight. Intermittent fasting may mean that you eat 3 meals a day, but limit them to an 8-12 hour period. It could mean that you only eat one meal a day with no eating/snacking in between.

The idea is that we eat too frequently these days, like hobbits. Breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, elevensies, second lunch, afternoon snack, supper, evening snack, etc.... By eating constantly (and almost everything these days is full of sugar and/or complex carbs) our blood sugar is always high and doesn't self regulate the way it should.

Yep, I did similar. I've done 3 days, but not 6. What I used to do was anywhere from 2-3 days of fasting per week. ie, minimum 24 hours (dinner then nothing until the next dinner) or mostly 36 hours, dinner, skip a full day and then breakfast on the third day) and sometimes 48-60 hours. Depending upon what I did, I'd do it 2-3 times per week. I lost weight and felt fine (didn't really notice that I felt better, but I definitel didn't feel worse).

I know this now!

I just went home for lunch and made a huge green salad with beets and everything. topped it with seasoned chicken from the grill. we both ate it and it satiated me easily. if anything I am gonna save a krapload of money.

truly the superpower of fasting is it cuts out snacks virtually 100%

That's the deal. Dr Fung says that obesity and diabetes weren't prevalent back in the day, but that back in the day, people also had 3 meals with NO extra snacking. You ate breakfast, lunch and dinner, and other than those three times, you didn't eat (or have 1000 calorie coffee drinks) in between or after those meals.

I tried it for a while and I don't know why I haven't kept it up. I liked the feeling of being empty every now and then.

Yeah, you get comfortable with an empty feeling and can feel all loaded up after eating a decent sized meal. I only weigh 170, & haven't really dropped any weight. I was down to 167 for a very short time. If I dropped 40 lbs., I'd be a walking skeleton.

I prefer intuitive eating. It's better for you and you don't have the issues with being hungry and thinking about when you can eat next.

I am getting 14 hours of sleep each night now. THC sleeping gummies are not considered food.

I’ve been doing it for about 10 years now. I started doing it before I was aware it was a “thing”. I drink a couple of cups of coffee at around 6:00, go to work and don’t eat anything until dinner. I’ll eat more regularly on the weekends but usually a late breakfast and then dinner and that’s all.

I did it primarily because as I’ve gotten older (I’m 56) I’ve found I just don’t need to eat as much. So I don’t. I weighed myself this morning. I weighed 214 (I’m 6’3”). When I played football in high school I weighed 215.

I feel great and my blood work is perfect every year. Works for me.
