I don't actually eat fast food very often and very little red meat in my diet... but an occasional DBL cheese from Steak 'N Shake, a chicken burrito from from Taco Hell, and a Chick-Fil-A make it into my pie hole on occasion....

And whoever introduced me to Banh Mi sammiches a few months back .... THANK YOU :)!

I have cut back on (eliminated) those Cubanos .... regretably :(.

Less is more .... portion control, and burning it off just being outside and "getting stuff done" .... it works for me.

Balance....

Too many chips
Cheese
Charcuterie

But I love them all

KFC911 11-02-2023 05:11 AM

My best "diet plan"?
Ignoring Steve's threads on delicious Pistachios, Burnt end dips, ice cream, etc. That dude has portion self control extrordinaire ... I don't .... it's all seefood if it's in my house!

Babu sez he's a very, very bad man :D

Picked up some of these this am....'Popcorners'
Made from popcorn..gluten free, not fried, and only 130 calories. The best part...no hulls or un-popped kernels. And they are good for you. :)
I bought the bag in the pic and a cheddar cheese flavor that I already tried. They have about 6 diff flavors.

You don't have a local meat market that makes meat pies? This processed stuff will kill you before a couple of pounds will.

KFC911 11-02-2023 09:37 AM

Here lies Steve,
Weighed one-fitty,
He would've made a hundred,
If he hadn't eaten so... unhealthy :D

stevej37 11-02-2023 10:21 AM

On the rare occasion when my parents would go out for a Saturday night....they would leave the choice of dinner up to me and my brother and sister. It was automatic...Banquet Pot Pies!
From there I graduated to Marie Callenders and then on to Marie's Large Size pies. :)

So after almost 70 years I still like them and am healthy yet. There is nothing wrong with occasionally eating processed food.

I'd say that 1 You've probably got good genetics that help keep you healthy in addition to more healthy habits than most. Processed foods probably aren't ever good, but as long as minimal, probably have relatively minor impact. THe human body, for the most part, is surprisingly resilient.

To anyone that's never had a MC pot pie and wants to try one....even though the package says 'Microwaveable'....don't do it. Oven baked is so much better...esp the outer crust. :)

Maybe a toaster oven?

What's the difference in cooking time? 55 mins vs 5 mins? That's usually the kicker.

A toaster oven would be second best..imo
Microwave ruins the crust.

Chicken is my fav...but the beef ones are great also.

john70t 11-02-2023 11:23 AM

Nuke 'em 30 sec a couple times while the oven is heating.
I have to admit to liking MC CPP very much but haven't eaten one in a while. dammit steve!

stevej37 11-02-2023 11:38 AM

I have this one in my freezer yet. Just look at those chunks of prime beef.:)
And that gravy just waiting for some crust to be dipped in.

Here's something that helps me maintain. I go one week with no bread or macaroni. Then the next week eating bread normally then back to a week of no bread or macaroni. Alternate ad infinitum.

stevej37 11-02-2023 12:22 PM

^^^ It would be tough for me to give up macaroni or pasta.
One of my fav foods.

Read closer .... only if ya eat half of it .... or remove most of that delicious crust ...

Doesn't get THAT cold here ;)

stevej37 11-02-2023 02:28 PM

I always look at calories as being good...as in better taste.
If it says low-calorie...yech. :)

I can do without fries....never really liked them. My weakness is the Culvers Butterburger Deluxe single patty.

Oh yeah, that and a concrete mixer!!!!
