What happens when you leave your keys, wallet and tools in your car,

while at work. It might just be a Yaris. But it deserves better this this.

This happened to my friend last week in Moncton, NB.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698946284.jpg

That sucks.

herr_oberst 11-02-2023 09:57 AM

I'm missing the story here. I've probably left keys wallet and tools in my car before but I don't think this wasn't the end result...

pwd72s 11-02-2023 10:00 AM

What was he thinking? Look like he wasn't.

When the thieves don't even want your car, and you don't leave a few Benjamins in yer wallet .... stuff happens ;)

You're right, wasn't thinking,

KFC911 11-02-2023 10:07 AM

There's gotta be more to the story ....

masraum 11-02-2023 10:12 AM

Car was stolen, joy ride, ending with the car getting trashed? I'm surprised it wasn't set on fire after all of the rest.

keys left in car, so someone steals the car, drives it like they stole it, including rolling it over (hence all of the damage and mud/grass). Maybe filled with garbage after and then abandoned.

yellowperil 11-02-2023 10:41 AM

And a lot of needles too. My friend (the owner) is very upset with himself, oh and no insurance either.

Not how I would do it. But what can you do, it's done.

stevej37 11-02-2023 10:42 AM

the radiator looks as it could be good yet.

Yikes on both counts!

LOL! "Silver Lining Steve," that's what we call him, also "Two Dollar Chipotle Ranch Grilled Burrito Steve" and "Marie Calendar Pot Pie Steve."

My friend said he went out to the car at break (2:30)PM and it was gone at 4:00PM. He said it was quite close to the job site but no one noticed anything. He said the car next to his had the keys in the ignition (a newish SUV) but they took his car instead. He said the keys were on the floor, sorta out of site. Lot of people do that.....He'll never do it again;
he says, we'll see. I still feel bad for him.

john70t 11-02-2023 12:01 PM

My guess would be a couple skanky dudes happened to show up in the ER that same day after falling down stairs.

My pants always have pockets. That's where I keep my keys, phone and wallet. It seems to work OK for me.

I can only imagine that folks up there must feel super secure. I actually feel super secure, I am not worried or concerned about anyone coming on my property and messing with my stuff. I don't lock my car (on my property), but I also don't leave the keys in it. Anytime my car is anywhere other than on our property, the doors get locked. I do lock the doors to the house, although I think that's unnecessary, and mostly for my wife's sake.

There are crazy, low-life folks everywhere. I think there are drugs that make people do stupid stuff everywhere, especially in the middle of no where.

Did he get his keys, wallet, or tools back?

Car- check.

I'm afraid that's going to show up on a Carfax report.

Steve Carlton 11-04-2023 10:22 AM

"Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it."

varmint 11-04-2023 10:32 AM

Nearest city is anchorage. Maybe three hours away. Couple times a year a car full of addicts will drive down and loot cabins. Sometimes they’re caught and savagely beaten. Sometimes not.

Sucks balls that even in bum**** nowhere we have to lock our doors now.

I know what you mean. I've left the halter on my horse and put the bridle in my saddle bag and nobody ever wrecked my horse.

Unfortunately "Bumf*** nowhere" is the fastest growing city in Atlantic Canada. I was by there two days ago and the expansion is kind of un nerving.

Best

Seldom do I laugh out loud alone.

Mebbe not ... couple hours with a polisher and then a clay bar .... no problem!

Steve Carlton 11-04-2023 02:28 PM

No insurance, so maybe no report to Carfax. He'll have the advantage of selling a Yaris with a clean Carfax.

Bugsinrugs 11-04-2023 03:58 PM

Years ago I used leave the keys to my vehicles on the floor. Was having a retaining wall installed and the contractor would leave his tools next to the garage. I live on 5 acres in a sparsely populated area. Well, a tweaked followed the contractor to my house then came back late at night to steal his tools. He looked into my truck and saw the keys on the floor and off he went. The sheriff found my truck at his trailer but not my keys. My truck was full of tools that he stole from other job sites. Needles to say I never leave my keys in my vehicles anymore.

Steve Carlton 11-04-2023 04:05 PM

It's a shame about the gas leak/explosion at the tweaker's trailer.

It was a weird run down trailer park. The sheriff had me come out to pick up my truck. I was there where they convinced him to come out. He was arrested for stealing another vehicle that was caught on a security camera.
