Mint Mobile - anyone tried it?

I have a 4g verizon smart phone. It's $86/mo. It functions as my home phone. But really, I only use 0.1GB data, so it's too expensive. Mint Mobile says this would be $15/mo. Seems too good to be true. It requires hacking the OS which doesn't seem too difficult but if you mess that up you're in no mans land.

Who does MM actually use as their carrier .... Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile .... and are you happy with your Verizon coverage (most important imo).

Consumer Cellular would run ya about 35/month ... mebbe less (they use AT&T exclusively now) and T-Mobile a bit more.

No need to hack a phone... just look around .... lots of options ... all use one of those networks.

"Mint Mobile offers premium wireless service on the T-Mobile 5G Network

We offer reliable service with 5G • 4G LTE speeds nationwide. If your area isn’t currently covered by the rapidly expanding 5G network, you’ll still receive fast, reliable service on the 4G LTE network, which currently covers 99% of Americans.".

Tracfone....I pay $20.44 for 3 months of 4G service....auto renewal (no worries about keeping it active)

Mint mobile = t mobile

I have used them for the last 6 - 7 years and they have been solid. Worked well for my son when in south america as well

If you are happy with the performance of the Verizon network in your area another option is Visible . They are an MVNO owned by Verizon . No frills but solid . My wife and I both have phones with Visible and we are on the $25.00 per month plan for each phone .

The $25.00 is all in , no hidden fees or taxes . We are in our 4th or 5th year with them and they have been solid . Really no complaints . Everything is done off their website they have no brick and mortar stores . Might be worth checking out .

Yes, Mint Mobile was bought by T-Mobile. Ryan Reynolds made a buttload of money off that deal.

Thank.heavens! I m so worried about Mr Reynolds financial situation.😏

I went with Spectrum for internet and they offered me some deal to bundle my phone. Not certain on the details but I'm paying around $40 a month for internet and phone.

Verizon was getting ridiculous in their charges so I moved to TMobile after 25+ years with Verizon. I have 2 new Samsung S23 Ultras, unlimited talk/text/data/free data internationally. All for less than I paid Verizon.

Same. Unfortunately, T-Mobile's network is really crappy in my town. :( Verizon's network was FAR better but man, you pay for it.

Same. Left Verizon for Mint about 2 months ago. Verizon 5g is a joke in my part of the world. Mint has been better, not perfect but better.

My daughter has had a great experience with Mint.

I have T-Mobile it is 150 a month for 6 lines unlimited.

Geez I wish we could see prices as low as that but Canada will not allow competition so the 3 carriers just rip people off!

Did you have to hack the OS? Does it use google apps?

osidak 11-03-2023 09:09 AM
