Marketing ploy to get more vinyl under the tree. This is how I'll remember them.

Based on this "new" song, I hope it is the last. The only thing worse would be a solo by Yoko.

I think referring to the BEATLES as ‘A pop group with fans’ falls way short of their contribution to not only musical history, but to popular western culture in general.
It is going to take a major and currently unknowable leap in music (and culture) to match their contribution to humanity. As some of you know, I am not prone to hyperbole, though it does happen on rare occasions. The BEATLES will hold a prominent place in western music no less than Mozart and Beethoven do. ‘Revolutionary’ diminishes their contribution, IMO. Simply looking at their melodies on paper in traditional musical notation is beautiful in its simplicity and elegance, especially their earlier work. If ever there was a way to transcribe acoustics into optics, their music comes exquisitely close. Then, of course, are the lyrics. ‘Fool On A Hill’, ‘Eleanore Rigby’, ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’ (written by Paul at age 14) are monuments to an era. Flame on, my friends. But when my kids asked me who the greatest ‘band’ in the world is (or was) without hesitation I said: The BEATLES. . |

^ John Lennon as he should be remembered. Quick, smart and a little cynical.

If you are interested in anything specific, tell me and I will make the recommendation regarding modern label re-pressing - assuming I own it and can verify that it is indeed good. I have all the above, and many many more |
