WWYD? Took car into dealer but then it barely runs.
Had a conversation with someone in a bind. Kia with 200k miles. Dealership replaced the engine four years ago under factory warranty with a brand new one. They won't honor the warranty on the replacement and neither will corporate.
Supposedly it ran fine when she took it into the dealer but then something happened after. She's using a loaner right now and needs her vehicle for long miles of work travel. A good person. I haven't seen the vehicle or know what is going on, but it sounds like other 'country boys' have been helping her out and it's been to shops. It's clear that she wasn't hot-dogging her daily driver and the previous engine lasted a long time. Some of the important details are missing from this situation of course but apparently it was being serviced on schedule.

How many miles on the replaced engine?
I mean stuff wears out… it’s possible to properly service a car and have something unrelated break the next day… |

Isn't there a KIA class action law suit regarding engine failures?

Not sure. There was a KIA/Hyundai ant-theft recall but I wouldn't be surprised. Thx.

What’s wrong with the car now? What did she take in for this time around? How do we know the current problem is motor-related (the part they replaced 4 years ago) and not something else?
Even if motor-related, oftentimes the replacement part (in this case the motor) is not going to warrantied for another 10 yrs/100K miles.

All probably true. The story I got on the phone was brief and emotional and missing elements. Uncharacteristic of the person I know, who went out of her way to help out before. I wrote up 'the facts' in a logical manner for her to use in negotiating. I know nothing at this point. Just trying to help out a good person who may have been wronged.

Boss's daughter has a 2019 with 86K miles, POS ate the ECU. I couldn't get the thing to keep the electrical steering running- reset the lights would work OK for about 20 min, then all of a sudden dash lit up like Christmas tree. We gave up and sent it to the shop.
$2.1K fix, no dealer goodwill. I guess there's a rash of blown ECUs with those. Backordered and took a month to fix. Pretty surprising for such a low miles car. rjp
