Outboard Motor advice
We bought a house in the south of France and it came with a center drive boat to run around the local saltwater lagoon. The boat is a 6 passenger fitted with an old 50hp Suzuki outboard motor that is destroyed through lack of use. The local boat mechanic said it is not worth saving. I know nothing about boats and could use some advice on what would be a suitable replacement motor. I am looking at Suzuki DF50A but wondered if the knowledge base had any other suggestions. The boat will not be used in the Med, only the somewhat shallow lagoon.

Depending on how you plan to use, etc. as well as the actual hull lines etc I would consider just getting one of the high voltage higher power electric trolling motors (48v 150+ ftlbs thrust) and a few good deep cycle batteries to power it, with solar set up at the dock for charging (if use is occasional) or plugin-power at dock (if daily)
This vid shows a guy tooling about with one on what could be similar sized to your boat and he's getting a nice speed out of it
