My friend's next project

Doesn't look like much now, but will after a bit. It's a 'Cuda, he has a 383 ci for it.
It was a car he always had his eye on, (when he was just a kid} he worked for the owner and said he'd like to buy it some day, The owner (a real jerk) said "you'll
never have enough money" . We'll my friend is way past that now. Not sure of the year, early 70's maybe.'

Not the nicest by a long shot, but the one he wanted.

Late 60s. In 70 they changed it to sort of look like a 69 Camaro.

Glad your buddy got one of the early ones.
Keep us posted.

I'm seeing a Sox and Martin ProStock theme; Red White and Blue paint and Keystone wheels.

My brother has a 1968 notch back 383 4 speed car. Whole lotta motor for a little A body car. If I remember right, used the same radiator as the hemi cars

'67-'69 Barracuda

'67 had red taillights in large 'C' shape
'68 had red taillights much smaller
'69 had ridged/pointy nose w/crowned hood near the hood latch area (btw, same hood as used on '73-'75 Dodge Dart)

Edit: looks like '67 based on side marker lights; rally wheels on front means larger bolt circle associated w/front disc brake car.

All 3 years available w/383 under the Formula S option.

Nice project!

This car is a 1969. 1967 models had no side markers. 1968 was the first year of federally mandated side marker lights, which, on all Chrysler products were small round lights for that initial year.

No A-bodies had large bolt pattern wheels until 1973, and rally wheels were not introduced until 1970. They made both small and large bolt pattern rally wheels, which is why they are a popular choice to use on cars (such as this one) that predated their introduction.

While the hood will fit on later Darts, there are some differences. The earlier Barracuda hood hinges themselves are different, and mounting holes are smaller, they also have sliding plates. One adjusts at the hood, the other at the hinge. In order to fit the Dart, the front corners of the Barracuda hood needs to be trimmed at the lip. The Dart hood understructure is different in that it has more crumple zones than the Barracuda.

This is going to be a cool project! Shoehorning the B-deck wedge in there should make for quite some fun!

HS buddy had a 70 ‘cuda with a 440 auto.

Tore up over 5 transmissions. Damn thing pulled harder than a jet airplane.

I think your buddy will have a sweet ride. I prefer his era body style.

Love it! I hope he treats it well. I had a ‘67 with a 273. I’ll never understand why they made that engine.

I would love to have that car. All the ones around here are way too expensive or total rust.

My dad had a Chrysler Newport 2 door land yacht with a 2 barrel 383 . We used it as daily driver and to tow our travel trailer . Not a lot of hp but it had torque ! It towed great . I would think a properly hopped up 383 would be a beast .
