Black Friday buys

Did you guys venture out in the madness? I did not, but bought stuff on Amazon.

I've been on a roll buying new Husky tool carts from Home Depot. Saw a 3 tier cart with a single drawer on Amazon and bought that. Also bought a no name 18" cordless chainsaw to accompany my 16" corded one. Looked for spare batteries for the no name and found a 450 ft/lb 1/2" impact gun from the same no name company with 2 batteries and charger. Cost for the impact gun/batteries/charger was $70, extra batteries would be $40+, so the impact gun was sort of free. lol

I did not buy anything specifically because it was black Friday, but ordered off Amazon a few things I needed for work.

Picked up a Keller 16 ft. aluminum extension ladder.
11% off at Menards.

Refrigerator went south late Wednesday:eek:

So yes, we did:cool:

Seen several deals but I am a poor so I dont participate in the madness

What kind of deals you ask? Oh, no charge for tax stamp on some suppressors, deals on barrels and complete uppers I would be interested in having, 15% or so off several new production spoons at a lgs etc

Wouldnt mind being able to get a deal on a compressor or other home shop tools for my son

I melted the interior of my Ridgid shop vac yesterday so I had to go to Lowes for a new DeWalt vac. :(

A word of advice. When you're cleaning the ash out of your pellet stove don't suck up any of the glowing bits!

Nope, N Florida (which is VERY different from S Florida)

Might have been a nice place to be when my mom was growing up there, and I loved the restaurants when visiting my grandparents for a weekend, but you couldn't pay me a million dollars a year to live there.

Shop neighbor bought two Makita batteries with a charger for $200. Normally high $300's. An "extra" came with the package. Another tool or a third battery. He took the 3rd battery. All 5AH.

A 6AH was available but if I understand what he said for the deal the 6AH eliminates the 2nd 5AH battery and the extra item. In his case give up two 5AH's for a 6AH.

No, but my wife does. She ordered one of the $350 DJI camera drones for me, on sale for $299.

Our microwave went tits up on Wednesday too. We went to Best Buy on Friday and bought a cheap GE unit.

Nope, no way in hell am I going out into the insanity unless I have to. I'm not going to deal-with/fight crowds for crap. I'm sure that there are deals out there. I suspect the number of actual deals are minimal and designed to work people into a spending frenzy where they then buy a bunch of crap that's not a deal. If I hear about something that I wanted that is actually on sale, then I may order it online, but I'm very unlikely to go out and deal with the public.

I'll take that advice, and add that this could have been much worse!

I bought some cold weather overbooties for my cycling shoes. (online)
55 bucks instead of 77.

The cycling industry is incorrigible when it comes to pricing; it's getting as bad as skiing ever was.

It was a good idea at first. I don't see the deal of yesteryear.

Right, and now "black Friday" is 2 weeks long, because it started Last Mon and it'll probably extend through the end of this coming week (OK, they'll change the name to "Cyber Monday").

Nothing on Friday as I was driving from Ohio back to Chicago. I-80 was empty, so I enjoyed the drive. I did but some power tools at HD on Monday as they had several deals.

stevej37 11-25-2023 07:23 AM

I was in two stores yesterday...Menards and Meijer. For a Friday mid-morning, neither seemed any busier than normal.
I think on-line shopping is most of the reason why.

berettafan 11-25-2023 07:29 AM

i ordered a bag of coffee beans.
