What the heck is going on in Hockey?
Two big names, M. Lucic and Corey Perry, (both have their names on the Stanley Cup)
are in big trouble. Mind you they are at the sunset of their careers, but sad to see this happen. Looks like they are both finished and not in a nice way. Not sure what Perry did but it sure got him gone in a hurry. |

Not sure if any of the rumors are true but it seems that Conner Bedard might be the butt of the Letterkenny style mom jokes for quite some time.
Poor guy, I hope he can take the taunting. Could this all be an attempt for the Hawks to offload a big underperforming salary?

Sounds like Perry assaulted one of the staff.

Events that used to be buried are no longer buried.
See Hull, Bobby for more details. The fact that these guys were 'peripheral' players is probably relevant. Void the contract, gain the cap room, move on. It will be interesting to see if Perry uses the NHLPA to file a grievance.

Alcohol involved in both instances. Corey Perry is not a peripheral player, he may have been a hall of famer (421 Goals) before this, not sure now.

Perry buried any legacy he may have had with his career. No one know what happened but it must have been pretty bad that the team took drastic measures and Perry didn't protest.
Lucic - meh. He has always had a temper problem. Too many bad penalties where he let his emotions get the best of him and unlike Crosby, the league has never protected him. No surprise that his lack of self control followed him off the ice. I don't wish him harm but he has no one to blame but himself. As far as his career is concerned, he wasn't going to be hall of fame and had been on the 4th line when injury sidelined him before accusation of assault. In other alternate universe news, Marchand is handling himself pretty well.
