cure for loneliness?

I know most of us here have family, friends, and if all else fails the rest of us here.... so none of us are lonely.

But I'm fairly sure some of us would be willing to self isolate for a few months in the name of science right? :D

Volunteering can be a great way to combat loneliness . From a soup kitchen to an animal shelter and everything in between . Plus a way to give back to the community . A win win .

Don't underestimate the company of an LNV. (ladies of negotiable virtue).

But a lap of the Ring with a Heeler safely strapped in beside me would be awesome.

Loneliness means different things to different people.

How does that song go? "I'm never alone, I'm alone all the time..."

I know I never feel more alone than when I'm in a big crowd of people I don't know. I do find the occasional drive on a twisty road or a long bike ride by myself helps - it's the coming back to reality afterwards where it comes back........

I think what drives loneliness for many people is a lack of meaningful human interaction. Going to work and going through the motions doesn't count - I think people want to talk/interact with others and feel like it meant something.

All depends on the person. I'm an introvert. I need to be alone to get back to a sense of well being. Work and other social activities drain me considerably. Being alone in my big, dark, quiet house with no kids or wife around is bliss.

I wouldn't make that generalization.

I recently lost my bride of 42 years -- beautiful woman outside and inside.

Of course Im lonely --but men like sharks -keep moving or drown.

I have family -friends ----- but one has to be pro active - the world will not come to you.
you will be lonely --but to what extent depends on you

My deepest condolences. It sounds like you're maintaining momentum.

That is just so true. I admire your perspective.

I will say, however, that the only thing I fear in this life is losing my wife...I can fight anything, turn into the wind and launch and be unafraid.

Not having my wife to share life with would occasion an interruption to the joyous ride while I fumble around, wondering why her.

I just spent the last few days...
promising to be good and all that..
nothing..
and I mean nothing..
scared me more..

all is good..

Sometimes, I just love the drive home from work, late night, alone, not much traffic on the interstate, just peaceful and listening to music. Then I get home and everyone is already in bed, just me and my pup sitting on the couch watching tv in peace. Sometimes being alone is pretty nice.
