USB Connectivity ?
I bought a new external SSD drive, which came with a cord that has USB-C connector on both ends. My computer, a MacBook air, does not have a USB-C port but does have a USB-A port. Can I just connect the SSD to the Mac using a cord that has USB-A on one end and USB-C on the other. I assume they are wired to work that way. Is this correct?

Yes, a USB-A to USB-C cord will do the trick
|
yes
|
Yea, but the date transfer will be much slower.

Thank you! It's pretty amazing, this tiny 1 TB SSD. 1000 gigabytes and I could hide it in my mouth. The 4TB drives are the same size.

"Universal" is part of that acronym for a reason

You need to shop in Bizarro World for those cords. |

My first tech job (1987) was help desk for a software company. As junior guy, I got the COMPAQ "12 Mhz!" boat anchor with 2 x 360k floppy drives. After three months, I got bumped up to a 10MB hard drive, but it would not spin up on its own, so the cover was left off and you had to manually spin-start it each morning. Finally, an old anecdote: IT (before it was 'IT') support guy is changing out a disk-pack: https://i.imgur.com/zNoy5HJ.png Female student watching asks, "Wow, that looks heavy. How much does it weigh?" IT Guy: "Depends on how much data is on it." Female student: Nods in approval and complete belief. |
