Poor Things
David Lynch meets Alice in Wonderland meets Frankenstein. Perhaps the most brilliant film all year. And while the script, the score, cinematograhy and so on all worked together to push boundaries of story and film making, it was the brilliance of Emma Stone that made this movie so much more than the sum of its parts. The story was chaotic and moving, emotional, clever, playful and childlike, and shocking at times but the psychological and philosophical foundation is what will draw you intellectually into the film. Definitely one to see a few times.
The preview, such that it is, does not prepare you adequately.

It looks "interesting". I'd watch it if it was available for me to stream. I like Dafoe, Ruffalo, and Emma Stone.

If it's got Emma Stone in it, I'll watch it.

Bill, have you seen The Favourite? I've been an ES fan for years, this was her best work IMHO, until now. Both are by Yorgos Lanthimos as well as The Lobster which I also loved.

Emma Stone was on the Smartless podcast this week; one of their better guests - and they get the A-listers. I've enjoyed her work since Easy A, and I definitely want to see this film.

It looks like Yorgos Lanthimos is the new Tim Burton/Guillermo del Toro and I welcome it. This movie seems to be on some special "artsy" theater release, so I'm not sure if I'll go out to see it or wait to see it at home. Certainly a cast worth seeing and an amazing world that's been created.

I enjoyed it. Olivia Coleman was a standout.
