Fav Chinese Snack

For many years now...this has been my go-to snack that is tasty and holds me over thru a meal.
Easy to fix...takes less than 4 minutes.

Take the whole Maruchan mix and crush it and empty into a bowl.
Empty the seasoning and one-half of the soup mix on top.
Add boiling water and enjoy!

You eat...soup good for you!

I won't take a guess what % of the daily sodium intake is from that "snack."

^^^ I don't live near the ocean...so I need my salt.

The Maruchan says 35%DV....I suspect about the same from the cup-a-soup.
Only using half the package of soup, so well under my daily allowance.

I just now looked at the back of the Maruchan....it doesn't state where it's produced, but it says the company is from Irvine, CA

^^^ whenever I see the word 'spicy' on oriental food....I back away.
It's always too spicy for me.

But the stuff in your second sentence sound tasty.

Let me introduce you to crystal crack. They sell them at Costco and are cheaper. Try that, you will never go back to regular jerkey.

All Japanese. Wikipedia: "Maruchan (マルちゃん, Maru-chan) is a brand of instant ramen noodles, cup noodles, and Yakisoba produced by Toyo Suisan of Tokyo, Japan."

I stopped eating Maruchan a while ago because the MSG or whatever didn't agree with my system. Personally.
Some stores have a half dozen types of that brand. And only that brand.
Tried most of them.

Nissan brand pour boiling water into a foam plastic "cup of noodles" and let it sit? Oh hell no!

My personal ramen preference is Sapporo brand. A 'single serving' can be stretched into a couple meals.
I use half the flavor packet or less.
There are also some Korean Indian and Indonesian instant noodles out there which aren't too bad.

Shin (korean) is where it's at. Even better - toss the packet and make some dashi, add an egg and maybe some pork belly. Top with shaved fresh shallot, or even better, fried shallots. And serranos, and possibly that lonely frozen scallop, maybe even part of that hunk of dried mushrooms...

Dashi's easy - shaved dried/smoked bonito flakes and kombu steep for 30 mins or there's a bunch of instant varieties out there too. I get at least two batches from my fish/seaweed goo - there's a bag of such in the freezer at this moment.

Though I've had an embarrassingly good ramen "salad" with the noods, some cabbage and some kind of sauce. I need to find the recipe - as luck might have it I have 1/2# of MSG in the mail at this moment...

^^^ John
The stores around here are limited to Nissan or Maruchan. I don't care for the Nissan's.

As far as sodium level goes...I have no fears. I'm 70 with a good heart and fit for my age.
