I love one star threads

Those are the ones I click on. Why? Because it's a 99% sure thing that the thread will be about something our one star making lefty doesn't like. Meaning, something that is bad news for the left or simple common sense opinion.

Please, one star guy, keep up the good work!

(edit) Whoops! Meant to post this on PARF...sorry. Mod, please delete, I'll repost there...

I you really don't want it to appear here you can "delete" it yourself. Just edit the post to say simply, "Oops."
Done.

Was sure this was another pool hall thread.

rwest 01-06-2024 01:29 PM

I don’t think the actual content of the thread has much to do with the star rating, it seems certain people don’t like certain other people and they just go in and rate that thread a one rather or not it is good or bad.

stevej37 01-06-2024 01:35 PM

Just give it a five star and it equals out to a three star.
That's what I do.

For a while, every thread I started was given a one star. Lately, it's only been once in a while.

So, according to pwd72s, you must be our "our one star making lefty."

LOL

The only time I notice the star ratings here is when someone brings it up, and then I look, to see what the fuss is all about. I've never actively rated a thread at least not that I remember, and I can't remember ever noticing if any of my threads have been rated. Thank god, because I have enough anxieties over perceived judgements.

who the frock even looks at stars? senseless.

Turbo_pro 01-07-2024 12:03 AM

OP is simply an observation.
One start rating rarely accompanies a comment and although it does criticize it never brings conversational value. Someone makes an effort to attack without having the balls/brains to retort.
Contemporary liberal affair.

Meaningless and annoying feature. It should be turned off.

Yep, that's pretty much it. 99% of the 1 star threads are fine. The desire/need to rate something 1 star is super odd. I think I've rated 1 or 2 threads as 1 star over the years. They weren't so bad that the mods needed to delete them, but they were borderline.

Otherwise, if I am looking at a thread and I realize it's 1 star (it's not often that I notice the stars at all), then I'll often add a 5 to balance it out.

I think your play on words threads based on other thread titles irritate some folks, and I think those often get 1 star votes. I think most of them are funny, although occasionally one slips through that isn't quite up to your usual fine standard of spoofiness.

I think it varies. I think in some cases it's that someone thinks a thread is silly or lame, but then some of those threads end up being the most interesting with high response counts. I also think in some cases it's someone that doesn't like someone else and just follows them around 1 staring threads. I assume there are a few or a handful of 1 star folks on the board. I also think they should relax, maybe change to decaff, and/or have a coke and a smile.

I never look at the stars. If I see a topic posted that interests me. I open it and read it. Most times I make no reply. Stars are like a participation award….they don’t sway me.

Turbo_pro 01-08-2024 08:09 AM

The one star retort says everything about the critic especially if that squirrel neglects an actual criticism about the thread.
Don't like thread topic, move on.
Don't like the thread originator, get a life.
One star makes you look the fool.

The Synergizer 01-08-2024 08:39 AM

I usually end up liking one star movies the best! Critics don't know beans...

911 Rod 01-08-2024 09:14 AM

There are stars? lol
