Wiper Blade recommendations?

My Tundra is on its 6th year with the original wiper blades and it’s past time to replace them. I haven’t bought a pair of wiper blades in a decade.
Has wiper blade technology changed (improved) in the past 10 years? These originals haven’t been bad about chattering on a cold windshield, which has been great. I hate that. Drives me nuts.
Anyone bought any great blades lately?

If they are the OEM blades, you can buy new rubber or inserts from your Toyota parts department.

I'm on the originals also on my 22 Civic and not looking forward to replacing them. I've been told the dealer charges $100 and up for the job.
The reason being is that the wiper and washer are integrated together. If a person does it on their own, only RainX Silicone Edura blades will fit and the plastic adapter has to be trimmed down first to make it fit.

I watched a seven minute youtube video and it looks to be not easy. I'll only bring it to the dealer at the last resort for $100

Ive been using the Rainx Latitude blades. Pretty happy with them. I wasted my money on the Bosch blades last year. Wasn't to thrilled with them.

Unfortunately on our CLK, Im stuck using the factory blades, because only MB makes blades to fit them. ( at $80 a pop....)

I've started buying the Amazon sets that fit my car. The Chinese blades are at least as good as the Michelin and Bosch blades that are five times the price.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might try the OEM blade rubbers from Toyota as sugested. The originals have done a pretty good job.

I can tell you which ones not to buy: Federal Mogul. They are garbage.

I use the OEM wipers for my VW Jetta.

I also have always preferred the rubber inserts for the existing blade (lots of Audis, VWs) and nowadays 2 Hondas. Very easy to change just the inserts and quite often the fitment of aftermarket blades to the wiper arms can less than ideal. My 2¢.

I have found with my Tundra it is not so much the blades than the arms themselves.
They are all metal and curve to the windshield as intended. I used to just buy the blades, but Toyota stopped selling them here.

Does Toyota actually still use the type of blade that the rubber can be replaced? I was thinking everything has gone to one piece blade now.

I bought Toyota blades from Toyota for my corolla a month ago, so just the blades won't be a problem.

The old blades were 9 years old.

Silicone blades for us. Here they get replaced at least annually.

The Ford OEMs replaced this summer are now chattering in the cold. I didn't apply rain-x and shoulda.

In my experience, new blades last a long time against
a new windshield.
But the blades go to hell in a hurry as time passes and
the glass gets more rock-pitted.

When the glass is in bad shape,
the best wipers in the world will start to streak before long
as the small sharp pits in the glass tear at the
leading edge of the rubber.
Sometimes their life can be extended simply by
wet-sanding them with fine paper to remove the small divots
left by the pits.
But they'll be back soon if the glass is not replaced.
If there is a product that can fill in the tiny pits in the glass
without obscuring visibility, I haven't found it.
Another tip: if the left and right blades are the same size,
sometimes you can get more life from them by swapping them.
Kind of like rotating the tires.

Besides all that, I've had good luck with bosch blades.

I agree, if the OEM ones lasted a long time and work well, why reinvent the wheel? The only thing I have to add is that in snow country, special winter blades with the whole blade encased in rubber can be good. I go to Mammoth and Tahoe with my truck in the winter and if you don’t raise your blades while parked during storms, it doesn’t matter what you have. They will be frozen to the glass.

Lastly, wiper blades can often be renewed with a simple cleaning with vinegar or strong soap, like Windex. Sometimes it’s just a buildup of dirt and pollution on them and they come back like new. Use a paper towel because it will turn black as the dead rubber and schmutz comes off. Just keeping your vehicle clean, (or at least the glass), will go a long way to keeping the wipers effective.
