Hollywood warned of AI in 1973.
 

I just watched the Tucker-Elon interview. As Elon spoke about AI, I could not help thinking of the movie Westworld I watched as a kid in 1973. The robots had the ability to learn and eventually decided humans were the enemy.

2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968.

In the sequel movie 2010, they explained that HAL was programmed that the mission was more important than the humans, so he took actions to take over.

Remember Westworld well. It surely left an impression. Titillating with the idea of smokin' hot female robots who wouldn't say 'no' and scary with the dangers that came with sentient robots.

The idea goes further back from Frankenstein' monster to the Golem. Create something powerful and independent which gets out of control. Anything could be substituted.

That is a heck of a movie. The "Maria" dance scene is like an LSD trip. The following clip is not true to the movie being colorized and added music. Way ahead of what one would expect from a 1927 film.

I just watched this yesterday. Really great colorized but has a Reefer Madness vibe.

Makes me think of "Cherry 2000" lol.
