Requests from a typical afternoon at the MIL's nursing home:
Proud Mary
Hotel California
Still Rock 'n Roll To Me
Orange And The Green ( Irish Rovers )

There are folks in there who are my age.

Best
Les

Ha! For decades now this has brought a smile to my face whenever it came to mind. "One day some old fart is gonna sneak into the PA closet at a nursing home and put on some Black Sabbath."

Good on ya for doing this,

Visiting my dad today, I noticed a new resident on the unit… he looked younger than me. I’m only 49.

Streaming some excellent Doors remastered in stereo right now. Could definitely see myself enjoying that for many more years. Maybe nursing home listening rooms will be a thing.

Zombie thread. Sorry, but I just wanted to report back. The advice I got here that I felt i should follow was to relax and give it more time. Retirement takes some practice. The anxiety was/is largely just a holdover from the damage that work inflicts. That turned out to be good advice. I'm feeling less anxious all the time, having having been retired now for 28 months, and less inclined to look for something to work hard at.

As an example, it appears I am headed into a hobby of building guitars. I've played them and adjusted them for many years, but just never built them. I've got a maple neck with ebony fingerboard on the bench which I am putting coatings on and into which I plan to install, level and dress frets. No hurry. It gives me entertainment. As it turns out, I don't need stress after all. Don't need any of it. At all. Glad now that I didn't go find some of that. Thanks to all!

Atta boy. I knew you could do it. Or not do it...;)

Luthiering sounds like a great hobby.

Seems you found your way to retire. I stopped working in 2018. I get bored sometimes and then I find a new adventure. Sometimes I buy and cars or buy and sell tools, or find some other project. I do need to stay somewhat busy.
