What a strange video.

Ive got the same flow control and it doesnt annoy me at all. A good shot will diverge a bit from perfect pressure but the change is gradual and easy to anticipate. Its actually kind of fun to drive the shot.

That guy seems like he wanted to build something complex. In my eyes a lot worse than the flow control switch. To each their own i guess.

I don't disagree that a flow control works just fine. Have one, and its great if grind/humidity/whatever doesn't stack up and you need to save the shot. For those without, perhaps the cycling thing works-jyl, for example, can't fit a flow control to his non-e61 group.
But yeah, vid was weird-some sort of AI voice?

He ‘talks’ about how annoying it is, he rattles the lever around like its a shoddy pos. But he had to undo the set screw to get it to do that. Its like he picked a thing to complain about and then had to cons up ways to justify himself.

I dont think hes a bot, but this is the sort of disinformation video that will become common in the future when the bots rule us all. The whole video is just so weird!

In a bit of a groove with our machine of late. Found local beans that give a solid result and figured out I wasn't purging the steam wand long enough. I was getting the occasional watery...I dunno cortado or flat white I guess?....and it sucked. Now with longer purge that problem is gone away.

I was having issues with sour shots. I tore the machine apart and did a super cleaning. That helped a lot. I then bought new IMS shower screen and basket screen and a scale and some other things. it took quite a bit of messing around to finally get a decient shot and I still struggle with lighter beans. I really dont want to send it in to get checked out as the machine is heavy and cost quite a bit to ship the last time.

My wife and I had a Delonghi Magnifica Espresso machine for the last 20+ years; it served us well but finally gave up. I decided it was time to upgrade and bought a Breville Barista Express Impress. We both love it. The coffee is as good as, if not better, than going to Peet's or any other coffee shop. Easy to use and clean. Been using it for over 2 months and it is flawless; I give it 5 stars!

FWIW, if you have issues with bitter/sour shots, try turbo shots for a while. I was skeptical, but they're ok. Not trad espresso, but tasty nonetheless.

Roast date was the day before and my first brew was too sour and unpleasant. Tried a few more times and figured it wasn't for me. Then about a week after getting it I tried one more before giving it away. BIG difference! It is the least bitter and smoothest bean i've used so far. I guess they aren't kidding when they say to give the beans some time after roasting. Noticeably different from the Rise Up beans we normally get. I'm a fan. i'd say it looks like a medium roast. I am doing 19 in, 34-35 out at about 30 seconds per the website.

was dumb luck on our part. I don't drink a ton of coffee and found larger bags or long ago roast dates can get pretty lousy towards the end. Maybe it's just a change I need to make to grind or something to account for age? For local roasters I check roast dates when buying.

We have a similar Breville for more than a few years. No complaints. I buy whole been light espresso roast and the wife and I have a fresh ground double shot Americano with a dash of cream each morning. We are happy.

I have been around peers who slide down the slippery slope of finding their perfection over a simple shot of espresso. It is very slick and costs and time come into play if you are not careful. We love good food, nice wine, and a great jolt in the morning. Only hope the OP does not follow the rabbit hole to "if only it could be better". Drive over to your local 7/11 and drink a cup of their swill for a correction. Your brew, on it's worst day, blows that stuff out of the water.

Dropping back in to say I continue to really enjoy the brandywine galactic standard beans. Using an 80:20 2% to half and half milk mix with it and it’s just delicious.
