hate car shopping
On the hunt for that which doesnt exist (small pickup like ranger or mazda or ...) and so have been exploring compromises. Need to hold a couple of adults and fishing stuff and long spoon stuff, and not have a cvt transmission. Cost, gas mileage, overall mileage etc. Ugh.
Found another Nissan Versa with low miles but what makes me even consider it is that it has a manual transmission and no touch screen or other overly computerized interfaces or other modern car bs. My last Versa was great as far as trunk storage etc for fishing and long spoon cases, but that darn cvt transmission caused a premature death and wouldnt let me tow even a small light canoe setup |
Life was easier when you had fewer choices.

You lost me when you said pick up and Nissan Versa in the same thought.

Supply...demand. Government forcing unwanted choices. 'Bout sums it up.

Aaand moot point. Lady talked to her pastor and decided not to sell
At least she reached out to let me know instead of just ghosting me ... |
How about a wagon ? Like a Volvo or VW Jetta and I think there are some Honda/Toyota/Lexus versions .

Buy a Toyota pic up with 150k. They’re good for 300k or more.

I've bought several vehicles off eBay, so don't rule that out while you're looking, Steve!
Two were Volvo wagons and the other my 356....all exceeded my expectations after obtaining said vehicles. |
Nissan Titan too big?
I've no affiliation whatsoever but this is in FL. https://www.thehulltruth.com/trucks-trailers-sale-wanted/942858-2006-nissan-titan-4x2se-70-000-miles.html |

You can install trailer hitches on these too. Asking price is $11,890. |
Ford Maverick Hybrid is an awesome small truck.

Mini vans are extremely practical. When I worked I always bought what was traded in and destined for the wholesaler, paying the wholesale price. Usually Audi, VW, American. After retirement (and no longer had that option) I listened to my wife and bought a new Honda Odyssey which now has 145K trouble free miles on it. As usual she was right. Can haul tons of stuff in it, good travel car and when the kids/grandkids are here we all fit. When I bought it I told my buddy I was angsting over spending that much money on a car and he said he’d be angsting over being seen driving a mini van!

I would second the minivan. I had a 2003 Honda Odyssey. I sold it with 145k on it. It was still like new inside and out. Mechanically excellent. I am looking for another as we speak. I regret selling it. It could hold full 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall and lots of 2x4’s. Tons of room for 6-7 pax with incredible comfort. It would easily pull a 4x8 trailer too. The V6 was giving me 27 mpg on the highway. We parted ways 4 years ago. If looking for one of these, do not let high mileage scare you of…most will make it to 300k.
