Quote of the day
Joey Lagano, in a position to win the Daytona 500 with 8 laps to go, after having been taken out in a "big one":
"It's a lot of fun, until it sucks." I guess that can apply to many things... |
LOL .... don't know why they run 500 miles any more ....
The Daytona Dozen :D |

All during the race I was wishing for a map of how Kyle Busch managed to advance through the entire field at least 2wice if not 3 times. Hamlin did the same only saving until the end to start his move. Then he simply drove past 30 cars in not that many laps. Those 2, and a few others, deserved a win. I know a lot about Cup racing but still learning. The amount of strategy that goes into this race is staggering but the some-time viewers don't see it. However, the inevitable wreck makes it more like playing roulette w/o any strategy. While statistically not true, Harvick said on air that he figured he had a 50/50 chance of finishing. That is a depressing outlook. That is more like roulette. I hate the 1.5 mile "roval" at Charlotte but I think running the road course at Daytona would be a better race than running the RC at Indy (they are going back to the 4 corner track this year). Talladega did have a road course way back when but they didn't maintain it and it's all but gone now. With Barber nearby, that RC will never happen. The whole concept of the Daytona 500 is getting long in the tooth. So I kinda agree with KC. I'd like to see Cup cars on a 1.5 mile dirt track. And I think they ought to open the season at Phoenix rather than end it. 2nd race should be in Mexico or Vegas. But do Mexico. Then maybe TX as they work their way back east. |
