Likely would sell quite well. My guess is it does not pass safety standards, does not have 1500lbs of air bags in it.

It's too small, that's why. Here in the US, most people want BIG trucks...the bigger, the better. Seems like everyone wants to feel like they're driving a Kenworth or Peterbilt...

I’m with you on the American/big truck thing but that new Ford Maverick is selling really well afaik.

We have a lot of Truck Guys were I work. None of them would buy this. They all buy huge, gas guzzling behemoths with 4x4 and instantly change out the wheels and put monster tires and lifts on them...None of them see any off-road action. I just shake my head to myself. To each there own.

The VW looks like a great little pickup for hauling the odd stuff here and there.

^^^Never seen one of those and I think that is fantastic. AFA little trucks go, no the coboys won't buy one but something like 58% of Americans live in an urban area. Electrify it and IDT they could keep them in stock.

I think a turbo diesel would be a hoot ! All kinds of power boosting is available and still get 40 + mpg . What's not to like ? Very cool vehicle and looks to be well thought out .

Not everyone. I would like a smaller truck, but the price difference between a decently appointed small truck and one of the behemoths is not great. When I bought my Tundra in late 2016 I looked at Tacomas. For the difference in price it didn't make sense to give up so much towing capacity, bed length, and interior room. The only thing I don't like about my '17 Tundra is the Kenworth-like styling of the front end.

Problem is, that '17 Tacoma is as big as my old 1977 full size Dodge quarter ton.

I will keep my 2015 Tundra until I do not need a 1/2 ton for towing, etc., then I'll get something smaller. I will not sell it until then. It is in perfect shape.

What I would like is a smaller truck with a drivers seat that allows me headroom: Build the truck with an option for a drivers seat that can be lowered 3 to 4 more inches than the standard seat if the buyer wants it.

They could figure this out. Body kit for the seat pan.

The reason I daily drive my 1996 Land Cruiser is the size: Compared to today's SUV's and trucks it is almost diminutive...5 years, 50k miles and smiles.

How small? When my dentist needed a truck to replace his old Ranger, I got him a 2001 Tacoma, 5 speed, V6. He's in his 70s, loves it, hauls stuff to the dump a lot, always gets asked if he wants to sell it.

You can get them for under $10K. I don't see why someone couldn't get an excellent CA/southern state example and if you had to, pay someone $5K to restore it. Mechanically they are one of the most reliable vehicles made. Put on new suspension and brake wear items, have the seats reupholstered (if even needed), clay bar paint correction/detail and you'd have a "brand new" truck even if it had 150K miles on it.
