I think Carver had the patent for the Sunfire Tech and Advent used it for sales. Their subs were downward firing and yes, location was not important. I paid quite a bit for that one almost 25 years ago. The caps gave out and I didn't think it would be worth replacing them. (I wish I would have now) |

I had a 5.1 setup for movies .... used it one time .... just for grins ;). My speakers will handle the 20-20K range .... and I'm strictly a 2 channel, music guy too.... Mebbe Rusty can fix yer Advent (Sunfire) sub ... he nose stuff :D |

Very nice!! :) Which/where are the subs? |

The issue whilst low frequencies are (in the simplest of terms) somewhat omnidirectional room modes cannot be ignored. If you are looking to have the room shake for explosions, etc. Yes go for a corner placement, it will probably give you the most bass energy BUT the frequency curve of the low frequencies could be (most certainly will be) all over the place. |

It's gone...I sold it on CL for $20 |

Movies are powered by a Lexicon preamp with Sherbourn amps (10 channels at 250w each!), also a Denon AVR. Music duties are through an Allnic preamp, Manley Snappers on the mid/high and Threshold 12e on the bass towers. I'm room response with the Betas is down to 12 hz! |

I recently recapped the crossovers on the Betas. They have been making beautiful music since 1998 |
Are those acoustic panels on the ceiling?
Very nice system....I'm sure it sounds fantastic! |

Mine died after a voltage surge caused by a bad common bus connection in my breaker box. After that was fixed, the sub would only emit a loud hum when plugged in. |

EDIT: you can see one fo the Sunfires in the corner http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1709241903.jpg |
^^^
Quite the set-up....lots of reasons to be proud of that. Jealous I am. |
^^^I'm positive the awesome sound your system produces would be lost to my tinnitus suffering ears.
I'd love to get a listen to that system. |

(Paul over at PS Audio in Colorado has a pair of IRSV for sale, and I think your room could accommodate them nicely.) |

Here's a link to a very poor recording I made with my Sony A7ii camera demonstrating my system with a cassette tape I made a long time ago. |

The V's are visually stunning and sound "exquisite". There is no replacement for displacement. |

Congrats. Collector's pieces right there. Have you recapped the crossovers? |
No I have not recapped the crossovers. I did refoam the woofers and mids.
They've been in constant use for a long time. I'm the original owner having bought them in @1978 or so. |

Way back when, I had 4 Carver amps (bridged mono at 1000 watts each) driving my 4 vintage Polk SDAs in 2-channel mode.... A poor man's "House of Sound" .... it rocked :D Huh ... what ;)? |
