RDJ and MG are both excellent actors that generally deliver a great product. Actors are people just like the rest of us, and are prone to have baggage, problems, foibles. I think what makes them different is that they are in the spotlight more than the avg Joe (so their issues are "news"). They also have more money and are often the recipients of benefits of fame and fortune which means that certain problems are easier to cater to that for the avg Joe. And then something that's just a theory of mine, actors have a tendency to be more artsy, which I think often includes some personality traits that are more prone to certain sorts of problems. But that could be completely false.

I've never seen him in anything where he wasn't excellent. I think that the folks that are the cream of the crop, whether they are the best actors, musicians, painters, scientists, etc.... Anyone that is approaching the pinnacle of what they do often seems to be a bit outside of the norm WRT personality. I've often said that I think that the best actors are likely a bit crazy. We all are, but I think those folks are usually more crazy than the avg. I suspect it applies to all art folks, and may even apply to others as well.

RDJ in Tropic Thunder was awesome.

I too also enjoy seeing a MG movie.

You might have something there. But I don't trust anyone so everyone might as well get drunk and show me.

I was working with RDJ on a film The Soloist when word came on the set that Heath Ledger had just passed from a drug overdose.

I was handing him his hand props and was about to remark “Boy, aren’t you glad you made it out alive?” .

I kept my mouth shut, I’m sure he contemplated that many times before. He was composed, never showed any emotion or put forth any input about the incident. I figured he had let the past remain in the past.

The Sherlock films with RDJ are under appreciated IMO. So well done with many good performances.

I was on that set! Met Joe Wright, Jamie, Nathaniel, (subject of the film). The night I was there, they were still in rehearsals and Nathaniel put on a performance for everyone.

Small world.

Loved, loved, loved the first one. The second one was good, but not as good, no fault of the performances, just the story/mystery that I didn't like as well.
