Anyone with Jaguar Mk2 ownership experience?
I am tempted to scratch an itch I've had for a long time. There is a local to 1961 Mk2, white over red, lots of records, pretty original with apparently good mechanicals. Original 3.8 with a supra 5 speed conversion. Original 4 speed with OD included. Driver quality, not concours, which is my sweet spot. If I move forward, it will go on the lift and get a thorough inspection. Talk me out of this. I have 3 914's I need to sell so the timing sucks. My last Jag was sold 15 years ago. A 75 XJ6C.

I owned a 66 3.8 MOD for a few year. White with red leather and chrome wires. Smelled great inside - horsehair and leather. Motor was like syrup. Suspension was ok but tightened up after I replaced all the bushings and shocks. The biggest issue I had with it was the stupid starter carb. It is electric and would gum up due to fuel evaporation making starting a chore. The front chassis crows feet rust so check those. In fact the whole car rusts so if it’s rusty walk away. They are 1950s technology but really do have charm. They easily keep up with modern traffic. Parts are available.

One word — Lucas. BTDT. But one secret, and recently discovered by wdfifteen, is keeping a high battery matched to the generator/alternator output. The Lucas electronics like the right amount of electrons. Let's say the exact amount of electrons.
