Spring surprise coming.

It's been over a month and a half since we had over an inch of snowfall here. Feb. has been 50's and March some 60's ....until tomorrow.

Winter storm warning and a prediction of 7 inches of snow tomorrow.

Might have to dig out the snowblower again. Maybe just wait for it to melt.:)

Steve,

Are you sure we aren’t neighbors? Seems like your forecasts are about the same as mine. Here in MN we have around 5” forecasted.

No surprise to me, we knew we weren’t finished with winter yet.

stevej37 03-21-2024 04:40 PM

^^^ yep..payback for the last few months of rare warm temps. :)

It won't last long...maybe be mowing lawn by April. :D

Looking at the radar...the mass of winter weather from your area is on a direct path to my area. I'm at the same latitude as the thumb area...but on the Lake Michigan side.

Their clocks are telling them it's time. They are active and eating now..which surprises me. First nice weather after this...they are going outside. SmileWavy

Snow is slowing down...supposed to be done in four hours. Maybe four inches of new snow...about half of that left after the melting.

No wind, so the birds were back...including Woody.:)

More on the way here from Sun. into Tues. We have had at least 2 of the pileated wood peckers coming to our suet feeder this week. They spook very easily since the feeder is 15 feet from the house. The tom turkeys have been displaying their best snoots, beards and tail feathers this week. The minute they spook, everything disappears and they run like mad to blend in with the hens.

stevej37 03-22-2024 06:17 PM

^^^ Sounds like we will miss that...just some rain. Funny that you mention turkeys.....they were in my yard this am also. There are lots of them around here.

10 to 19 inches on the way here. About 2" right now.

That'll be a nice mess.

Grand Rapids reported 6 inches and outlying areas around 8, so it was real close to what they predicted here.

Our spring surprise it it's almost April and it's still cold and windy. We had better weather in December.

That's the way it's been here all winter also. Hardly any snow at all and temps that broke records for highs.

Mother Natures payback.:)

pete3799 03-23-2024 03:06 PM

Close to 19 inches so far and still snowing.

Diapers are something I don't want to think about.:)

Give me another 15 years, then I might be interested in diapers.

We had full sun today...so the snow is almost gone.
The angle of the sun makes it intense for melting now. The roads are all good again.

Might take a little longer with the amount you have.:)

cjh 03-23-2024 06:01 PM

Same here. Round 2 is scheduled to start Sunday morning thru Tuesday morning.

stealthn 03-24-2024 02:58 PM

We had a couple weeks of above zero temps, all the snow was gone then we got a foot in two days. Mother Nature knows we needed to moisture 😁

stevej37 03-26-2024 10:14 AM

After the last of the snow melted...we had a day of warm thunderstorms.

The lawns went from a faded green to a dark lush green in two days here. The mowing will start soon.

Its going to be a super bloom year in the desert too. Two years of substantial rains.
Lakes in Death Valley, Mojave river is above ground and flowing again.
