^^^ I linked an NBC video that does a good job explaining it.
Will have to un-mute the audio.

KFC911 03-27-2024 03:41 AM

I watched 4 minutes of it...

Wish I had kept it muted :(.

Nothing but still pics .... talking more about horse-collar tackles (and should be flagged) imo.

NFL .... National Female League? .... no offense to the ladies here.

NPL? No, no, no... not what yer thinkin'!

Pansy :D

It's football .... comes with the sport .... don't recall many injuries from these tackles over the years .... the athletes are huge, strong, and fast these daze ...

The 100 mph fastball will be next :(

There's one more item I read that will make you happy.:D

The NFL stated that this year more games than last year will be streamed on Peacock.

Get your credit card ready!:)

Guys wearing leather helmets without facemasks did not try to spear people wth their heads.

NFL = Not For Long

1990C4S 03-27-2024 07:39 AM

I read that the league distributed a video explaining the hip drop tackle, but I have yet to see it anywhere.

The tackle appears to refer to the defensive playing throwing himself on the calf of the offensive play, which results in rolled ankles and lower leg injuries.

I think the kick-off is staying in the game as a 'break' to allow another set of commercials to be run. It serves no other purpose, aside from the short-kick-off, which might no longer be viable with the new rule?

stevej37 03-27-2024 07:52 AM

^^^
The video I linked in Post 19....they describe it as when the defender has the runner in his grasp around the waist, but can't get him on the turf. If the defender drops to the ground on the players legs.....a flag will be thrown.

They would rather watch the PGA. :D

That video is kind of terrible...just sayin'.

This one is short and sweet...and shows exactly why the play is penalized.

Nonsense .... it isn't Nascar and the ol' geezer club will just whine about silly rule changes :D!

I do think the college game that I also love has been degraded ... moreso off the field than on it tho' ... sorta like college b-ball imo.

After seeing that other thread ... I might start watching the LPGA :D!

stevej37 03-27-2024 08:42 AM

I do enjoy watching college football more than the NFL.

Draft day is only a couple or three weeks away...in Detroit.
The mock drafts are now saying the first four picks will all be QB's.....unreal.

stevej37 03-27-2024 08:51 AM

^^^ Looks like Jayden Daniels slipped down a ways since this morning.
So..the first 3 picks instead of 4

stevej37 03-27-2024 12:14 PM

feedback from defensive NFL players starting to come in. :D

KFC911 03-27-2024 12:26 PM

LOL ...You can get hurt grabbing for a flag .... one hand touch is on the way :D!

Noah930 03-27-2024 01:52 PM

What about the onsides kickoff? Is that dead?

stevej37 03-27-2024 01:55 PM

^^^ No word on that...so I would say it's 'no change'....unless they aren't done yet.

I think I read where it would only be allowed in the 4 qtr. and the officials must be notified in advance .... but I'm not about to reread that link :D

edites: OK .... I lied :)! I did read the link again .... don't see it now. Mebbe I just imagined it from a nightmarish NFL dream I had last night ;)

stevej37 03-27-2024 02:02 PM

They have to allow extra time for the players to add more padding and stick-um.
