Largely garbage. Mail often arrives after 6:00 PM. Checks have gone missing. Visiting the nearby large mail distribution center is like listening to Yoko Ono harmonize. She thinks she's doing great but fails to realize it's actually utter trash.

Ordered something in April. Shipped USPS 4/22 from California to NY priority mail. Shoudla had it in 3 days. It has been “ traveling through network” since May 1. I needed it 3 weeks ago. Told seller I want refund and new order sent asap. Seller replied delay is due to severe weather and to allow another week or two. Huh? The package reached New Jersey on 04/25 and I am not aware of any severe weather on the East Coast.

Seller says if no movement by next week, they will “initiate a package trace”. Uh huh sure

I almost never use stamps or go to the post office to mail anything.
If I send something by mail, it is usually UPS. (I like the tracking numbers)
All my bills are paid electronically, received. They are paid thru my bank. ( I like the record keeping).

What I get in the mail isn't allot. So I have no issue. However, my youngest is getting married this June and I never received my invitation. So, stuff can happen.

Finally got my son's wedding invite 2 weeks ago. The post mark was dated Feb 24th. The envelop looked remarkably clean. My other recent issue is my licensed renewal sticker I paid in early March. My plates were due to expire at the end of April. I was getting nervous, so I called the DMV for help. It was aid and sent in the mail on March 15th - never arrived. I went to the DMV (a place I really don't like going to) and within 10 minutes, I walked out with a renewed sticker. I cannot remember the last time something was lost in the mail and yet I experienced 2 events within 3 months.

It's truly amazing how bad it is. I deal with mail a lot for some family business and what was a one day delivery for the last few decades is now over a week.

Watching the local news here and reading the newspaper the amount of complaints about the Post Office is sky high . Business owners complaining checks to vendors running 3-6 weeks late if they get delivered at all .

Lots of lost mail and packages . The new processing center rollout is a joke and the head guy leading the pack is an idiot . Our local UPS store says he is WAY busier than ever before with customers using them vs the post office .

Our local post office apparently has created their own process to bypass the new processing center if at all possible . It's crazy . And it's not the ground pounding workers it's all the layers of management that really underestimated how to initiate the roll out .

I don't know how else or another way to get a letter from Seattle to Florida in typical 3-5 days for 68 cents or whatever a first class stamp cost these days. Heck I still use Forever Stamps I bought at 40-50 cents each.

I can't even start my Pickup Truck for .50 cents anymore.

We live in north Georgia . My wife's sister lives in NC which is 5 hours away . My brother and his wife live in upstate NY . Ten days ago my wife mailed both mother's day cards . The NY card arrived yesterday . The NC card is out there somewhere but not in their mailbox

One of my shop customers passed away recently. He called me two weeks before passing to bring everything I have back to the shop, done and in process, he'd give me a check for everything. Showed up on the Saturday, no show, called, he was too sick to make it, 2 weeks later he left us. Great guy, a credit to all Independents and the marque.

Fast forward a month, this project was moved to a new shop. They contacted me, dropped a check in the mail, said they'll pick everything up when I get it. It was in the mail 10 days ago, still haven't gotten it. The shop is in NY so it should have taken 2 days, 3 at the most.

Our is sometimes like one episode of Cheers where everyone comes out to check their mail and hand off the mail to each other. The other day I had only the mail of my next door neighbor. I have no idea where mine went. It was delivered a day later.

The complaints from vendors are going up about not getting their checks. We look it up in the system and we've cut and mailed it to the same address as previously done. They ask for the check to be voided and reissued. PITA for all involved. Some of these checks are for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

All of our biggest vendors and clients have changed to ACH payments. Bank to bank, and no possibilities of theft or delay.

Stealing for years. Only probation and avoids jail. "public servants"...LOL....

Our carrier is amazing-super friendly island guy, stops to chat, brings stuff up the drive to the house if its too big for inside our box yada.
But our "regional" PO in Richmond is so notoriously bad that its become a photo op for Congresspeople and Senators to go visit to "investigate" what the problem is.
In fairness, it seems impossible for USPS to retain folks due to the hours, conditions and pay.

Shaun @ Tru6 05-14-2024 05:16 AM

^^^ my carrier is too, he's an older guy either late 50s or early 60s, happy to give him a $25 gift card every Christmas. I saw him last night and asked about mail being so late. He said they've switched things all around and dropped air for a lot of first class. He thought the check sent 10 days ago should have gotten here in 3.

p911dad 05-14-2024 06:01 AM

We never know when the mail will be delivered. Last night I heard the truck out front and it was past 9PM. I feel sorry for the carrier. Some days it's here by 3PM. We've had first class mail take 10 days to get from Charlotte to DC. Sometimes they get a good streak going, but then it's back to unreliable deliveries. You just never know. UPS and FedEx have gotten very expensive lately.
