Blast stick for self defense?

My local news said these things are selling like crazy. I have never heard of them, but to me, they do not look like a good idea. Pull it out, activate and the wind blows the other way. Not to mention the spread of the pepper gas cloud.

Non-lethal.

Single-shot.

Don't miss.

This will also end up being used offensively .

I'll bet they won't be legal to sell in most states.

What about the rights of the criminal?

Absolutely. That was my first thought as well, whether it's the newest "funny fad" to blast people or folks think it's a "funny prank" to blast folks, even if it's just the inert model.

$80 for "live" and $50 for "inert"!!

THe folks that will use them offensively will probably just steal them so the cost won't bother them.

Lawsuits incoming...

Practically speaking how quickly can a victim deploy this thing?

What's wrong with the existing spray devices?

Looks like it's push button. Once it's in your hand, looks like as fast as you can slide the "safety" to the side and hit the button.

Of course, you have to get it into your hand, and in the correct orientation, which could take a long time if it's at the bottom of a purse.

My thought exactly. If one is physically "jumped" they're just as hosed as though they're unarmed.

Yep, but the manufacturer has made their money, and the folks feel safer.
