Man arrested in connection with Moiliili shooting
By Star-Advertiser Staff April 3, 2024 Updated 10:01 am
Honolulu police arrested a suspect in Waimanalo Wednesday after a late-night shooting and assault in Moiliili left a man in critical condition.

At about 12:20 p.m., the 40-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of first-degree and second-degree attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony, second-degree assault, and a firearms violation.

Police said shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment complex on Kaaha Street, where they argued. She asked him to leave but he refused.

A 60-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man intervened and told the suspect to leave and he threw something at them, according to a police report.

The 57-year-old man, armed with a bat, and the woman followed the suspect out of the building to ensure that he left. The man with the bat continued to argue with the suspect, and swung the bat at him to keep him away, police said. The woman intervened, and the suspect shoved her to the ground, injuring her.

The man then swung the bat at the suspect again, and he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the man in the abdomen, police said. The suspect allegedly used the man’s bat to strike him in the head multiple times, according to police.

The suspect allegedly also shot at a 28-year-old male witness but missed, and the suspect fled in a four-door BMW.

Paramedics responding to the scene at the 2700 block of Kaaha Street treated the victim and transported him in critical condition to a hospital, where he remains.

The suspect was identified at about 8 a.m. Wednesday and his vehicle was identified as an orange, 4-door 2023 BMW, police said.

The Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney is pursuing charges, according to police.
So, before he is even arrested, the suspect posts this.

My son is a lawyer in Norfolk...I think I have written before on the absolute idiocy he deals with in court all the time.

The stories are dome-worthy.

He may not be arrested, yet, but evidently he skipped the day in HS government class where they talked about the concept of Miranda rights.

What's with the bundle of cash? Sorry, I couldn't understand much of what he said. It actually sounded like someone was continually swinging a bat and landing blows. The defense could get interesting.

I had to use closed captions...basically claiming self defense.
