What's happening with Google and Edge?

I got signed out of Google just like I got signed out of Pelican while I was away from the computer. I can't see Google the way it was an hour ago. My task bar short cut goes to Edge. I can't get to my Google settings including passwords.

And now as I type it's filling in for me before I get the word finished.

Edit: I found my PW's in a new place. Says it has a new sign in page/look.

I've had updates push for me to use Edge.

My Chrome app disappeared. Then a 3rd party upload appeared. I didn't download it so now I have the old basic screen. The 3rd party app had something to do with edge as I examined the source.

My typing is normal today after a reboot. I'm in the habit of shutting down the computer overnight now. I will be buying a Mac.

You know Chrome and Edge are basically the same code base, right ? MS gave up and now uses Chromium - same extensions, same core, same options etc.

^^Yes, that's what they are messaging me in the url/address bar. I don't want my settings in MS. I liked the separation of MS from Alphabet/Google. How does Apple handle this now?
