One key factor of reliable utilities is the diversification of resources. There are significant challenges with building the electrical infrastructure required for the full electrification of society. BUT, the elimination of alternate sources in setting up a modern Western society is an absolute formula for creating a huge disaster. I have seen it in hurricanes and earthquakes, firsthand. Those who propose a one-stop source of power are ignorant of what it takes to assure system reliability.

When I looked into PV Solar array system costs of the addition of batteries almost doubled the project cost. It just makes more sense to use your EV as the battery, but I personally would not want to do it without a PV solar array.

Bi-directional charging has been mandated, so every vehicle will comply eventually.

All I found in a quick search was this: July 19, 2023 California’s Bidirectional Charging Mandate Would Create Microgrids on Wheels & Turbocharge Resiliency https://www.microgridknowledge.com/distributed-energy/article/33008408/californias-bidirectional-charging-mandate-would-create-microgrids-on-wheels-turbocharge-resiliency Quote:

^^^ That's it. It is essential to long term EV growth, so it's going to happen.

I read a list of credits/rebates for purchasing EV's and Hybrid cars.
The lowest credit is for hybrid cars that are made by non-unionized auto manufacturers. That includes Honda and Toyota...right? If true...it stinks.

As far as I know, the tax credits are based on where the car and the battery were made- not if the manufacturer is unionized or not.

^^^ It sounds like a bill that is about to be passed.
If enacted, the bill would provide a $7,500 tax credit for consumers who purchase electric vehicles through 2026. Beginning the following year, only purchases of electric vehicles made in the U.S. qualify for the credit. The base credit goes up by $4,500 if the vehicle is made at a U.S. plant that operates under a union-negotiated collective bargaining agreement. Only auto plants owned by General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Stellantis NV currently qualify. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/biden-bill-includes-boost-for-union-made-electric-vehicles

Gov't mandates are lovely, I'm waiting for the mandate to double our power output by 2035 to accommodate all these energy sucking EV's. Solar and wind turbines won't do it so we need a mandate for nuclear power, good luck with that! How much money has Justin embezzled from Canadians for our Carbon Tax and where has that money been spent to reduce our footprint? The is no climate crisis, check the science, Greta don't know squat.

(customers are not buying most of them)
https://fortune.com/2024/02/20/ford-mustang-mach-e-electric-cars-evs-price-drop/ Feb 20, 2024 ... Ford Motor Co. cut the price of its electric Mustang Mach-E by as much as $8,100 after its sales tumbled 51% in January (dealerships aren't going to inventory something which doesn't make them money) https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2023/12/21/ford-dealers-ev-sales-service-program/71991775007/ Dec 21, 2023 ... Half the Ford dealers in the nation, or some 1,550, have chosen to stick with selling hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles only (some of the states haven't gotten the memo) https://web.archive.org/web/20240401225548/https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/04/8-states-now-say-complete-ban-gas-powered/ While the White House recently released new rules to phase out gas-powered vehicles by 2032, several states have gone further. Eight states plan to completely ban the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported. Who’s leading the charge, you might ask? Why, it’s California, of course! They are joined by Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Washington, D.C., has also committed to the ban, according to Money.
