If momma bear had heard or saw what they were doing that little fence would have been meaningless and they would understand much more about why you leave them alone.
As is they may have created a death sentence for the cubs.

Wandering through the wilds of the PNW for decades now that's a very early lesson: bear cubs are very cute but DO NOT get between them and mom, best to just slowly and quietly back away.

Just a matter of time .... he musta took the day off :(

I don't really wish ill on hardly anyone, and most of those folks looked like kids, but I certainly wish there had been some thoroughly unpleasant, non-lethal consequences for those folks.

About a month ago, in the UP a momma bear emerged from hibernation and was promptly hit by a car and killed. She had been chipped as were her infant cubs very recently. Because she was being surveiled the cubs were rescued and are now in the custody of Oswald’s Bear ranch in Newberry, MI.

The local TV news ran a story on this, the State of NC Game people were all over this. Some folks just don't have any sense at all.

Thery were lucky mother wasn't around. I was hiking along a mountain trail once and noticed a couple of cute cubs up a tree looking down at me. My first reaction was, "Aw, how cute." My second thought was, "Where's mom?" After the second thought, I hurried on my way down the trail.

Forget Mama bear.......they were lucky I wasn't there.......they would have been in the hospital. And I'm not kidding......
